I just "upgraded" to Vista 64. Had terrible trouble with it crashing like a bitch, after pulling my machine apart and putting it back together piece by piece, turns out my wireless was the culprit.
Lucky I had a spare....
But other than that it seems stable, more so than Vista 32. But then that might be SP2.
God I hope W7 is better. I can't really stand Vista, but I can't live without my Mass Effect looking oh so sweet.....

Windows 7 RC is fantastic. I am running it on another computer, and it runs like a champ. Its like the "prettiness" and new features of Vista, but it runs similar to XP in terms of performance. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Tried it for a while Spooks. Had the same problem with the 64 bit version of it that I had with Vista 64. Now that I know what the problem is, maybe I should head back to it.
Hmmmm, maybe later, I've had enough formatting for one week. Heh

To all that own Vista OSs... Please tell me you had no choice... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif) QUOTE(3d0xp0xy @ Mar 31 2009, 11:10) Is someone forcing you to use it? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Yeah, Bill Gates. QUOTE(Spectre @ May 18 2009, 07:18) I'm testing Windows 7 RC on another system, and man its pretty nice. I like it much better than Vista (by leaps and bounds in fact) when Vista came out as RC1, it is better than Vista SP1 and at least as good, if not better than XP in most params... As far as I can tell anyways. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Wow, now I'm a bit tempeted to give it a go. If I knew what I were doing... and had a second computer. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Okay, fuck, this just keeps sounding better and better. XP was always better. Ever since Vista came out, XP was better, reguardless. And if it wasn't clear, I use XP. I have no "compatibility issues". Evar.

How about the compatibility? I want to try and see it myself but I can't format my desktop or my laptop for now. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I haven't found any compatibility issues with it yet, with exceptions of the game [ gunz.ijji.com] Gunz (I don't actually play, I can't stand the game at all, I heard from someone else on W7) and the fucked up anti cheating software (gameguard, and it doesn't accomplish its function apparently, but anyways) that works only if you're playing the Euro version of the game. If there are troubles, apparently the XP compatibility mode is somehow better in 7 than it is in Vista. This post has been edited by Spectre: Jun 4 2009, 09:11

Sorry for being non-productive, but I just hate that useless OS. This post has been edited by Bigman1972: Jun 4 2009, 09:15

Vista really isn't as bad as people put it. I've seen many systems run the OS just fine with little to no issues. It's more or less the opening onslaught of problems it had when it was hurriedly released that has giving Vista an essentially permanent bad rep.
I'll also blame vendors pretending their XP drivers are signed Vista drivers, which in itself can cause a number of common issues in Vista.

Okay, I guess I'll bring up one upside and one downside to it. One issue I had with it: Networking. Up: It can use it's wireless connection to detect any wireless signal and connect to it without a problem. Down: I couldn't connect it to my XP machine for shit. I guess I'm not that good with computers as everyone else said I was. I knew I wasn't.

It was annoying, but not difficult. XP machines can detect networks made on Vista, but Vista doesn't recognize XP networks very well, for some reason. Yay for lack of backwards compatibility. This post has been edited by radixius: Jun 5 2009, 06:22

Well, I couldn't pull it off. I tip my hat off to you and all others who can do so. It just goes to show: QUOTE(Bigman1972 @ Jun 2 2009, 11:16) QUOTE(3d0xp0xy @ Mar 31 2009, 11:10) Is someone forcing you to use it? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Yeah, Bill Gates.

With every new computer system that comes has the latest OS installed on it. But for an additional fee, you can get a downgrade. Which, no matter the price, people will refuse to pay for. It should be the other way around.
