Piercing and Crushing are the most common hits, and Leather has way low Piercing Mitigation.
So Protection and Deflection are the best suffixes for Leather. Warding and Dampening are average. Stoneskin is trash.

With a full reinforced leather of deflection set forged to 5 (signature) I have, overall: 45.6% Crushing (higher than heavy armor forged more btw), 45.3% Slashing and 52.9% Piercing (again, higher than my heavy armor set).

My 1H heavy set, with maxed abilities has: 40.8% Crushing, 50.4% Slashing, 50.5% Piercing.
