I used leather and dualwield for most of my life, and am still using it. My next best leather armors are only magnificent, so peerless leather isn't a waste of funds at this point in my game.

You're right though that keeping up secondary proficiencies is much easier than it used to be. (At a slightly lower level anyway. Keeping them up at equal level is more questionable).

Go for Shade if you're gonna continue with DW. I sympathize by the way, I haven't used 1h since I was like less than level 50.

I'm generally slow to transition, so I'm patient before going for shade, that's why now is a good time for me to get peerless/legendary leather, which is affordable.

Likewise, my 1H build is all cheap legendary plate that I found myself on the ground, with a few power pieces also from the ground just starting to be prepared.

My current goal is replacing my good, but underleveled weapons, so I've got to be a bottom feeder for a bit with my armor. ;)

not a problem. playstyle is also a matter of personal tastes. the matter is that - at least on the paper - Leather only has a niche place in this meta: that is, armor set for starters. at higher levels its BUR and its lack of ADB are only a hindrance.
