I probably won't be able to provide any translation services for (at least) the next few years. However, I'll leave this post/thread as it is for the next ~6 months in case someone decides to apply for a refund, after which I'll ask a moderator to delete it.

In case you want to apply for a refund, make sure to PM me in addition to posting here, as I don't intend to check this thread very often.

Price

I'm relatively new to translating --although my language skills are solid-- so my TLs are fairly affordable. Their prices depend only on the amount of work I need to do.

For most doujins, games and videos, my rates are approximately as follows:

- Doujins & manga: 0.50 - 1.30 USD / page (+0.50 - 1.00 USD / page for editing) - I ignore SFX & authors' comments by default.
- Games (screenshots): 0.15 - 0.20 USD / line.
- Audio & video: 0.04 USD / word (+0.01 USD / word for subtitles).

For other types of text and extremely wordy doujins (etc), I'll generally charge 0.10 - 0.30 USD per 'sentence' (in this context, I usually regard 'strings of Japanese text separated by commas, periods and other punctuation' as 'sentences').

Guaranteed accuracy

If you manage to find a mistake in my translation, I'll give you a FULL REFUND. A detailed explanation can be found at the bottom of this post.

Speed

Partly due to my refund policy, I work very hard to ensure the highest possible accuracy. On the downside, I take quite a lot of time to translate certain types of text. On average, I translate 3 pages/day for script-only TLs and 2 pages/day if editing is included.

Payment

I accept payments by PayPal. I'll start working on the TL as soon as I've confirmed the payment --- unless I'm already translating something else, in which case I'll put your request in the queue.

Note that I won't queue jobs until I've received the full payment for the TL.

About my refund policy

If you or anyone else manages to find an error in a translation of mine, as in a part where I've clearly either misunderstood or failed to notice a part of the Japanese text or speech, I will refund the entire commission for that TL. In practice, if I do make an obvious mistake, you can expect me to just admit it and give you the refund without making a fuss.

If I don't think I've made a mistake, you can still get your refund by doing the following:

1. Post the part in question in this thread (or any appropriate thread that anyone can access, but you have to notify me here within the same day)
2. From here on, don't edit any of the posts you've made in relation to your request for a refund.
3. I'll make a post in defense of my TL choices.
4. After that, within 10 days, 2 (for jobs that pay less than 50 USD) or 3 (at 50+ USD) bilinguals will have to confirm (one of) the error(s).
5. All of my arguments & counter-arguments will have to be answered properly by at least one of the bilinguals.
6. No bilingual may agree with my translation.
7. If all of these conditions are met, I'll refund the entire commission.

Here, "bilingual" means anyone who has published or received credit for at least 30 pages or 100 lines of JP->EN translations that prove their proficiency in both Japanese and English.

IMPORTANT:

I will NOT provide refunds for translations that I've sent/published more than 6 months ago. Reason: I don't want to keep the payments in PayPal forever, but to avoid extra costs, I have to abstain from withdrawing them to my bank account for as long as I might need to refund them.

1 mistake = refund? That's overkill. Your rates alone are enough to garner interest. Certainly caught mine.

I'm still relatively inexperienced, so I need to assure people of the quality of my services. It won't be easy to find mistakes in my (paid) TLs anyway.

Weeeell. Sometimes there's no perfect way to translate something. I don't think people will try to screw you over, but what you are saying is opening ways to some lawyer-trolling.

It's still worth trying out. I made my policy as difficult to abuse as I could (while still attempting to be fair to anyone who actually does find an error) so I don't expect it to create too many problems.

How much would a game cost to translate?. and then put back the translated words to english back into the game. SO removing the japanese from the game subtitles? ty

In order to make an estimate I'd have to know how much manual labor that requires, which depends on the type of game you're talking about. Also, when I don't know how much text is involved, I base my fees on the worst-case scenario; IOW it would cost significantly more than translating a set of screenshots of the game.

Hmmm, I looked into the files and it looks like about 294 lines max from which I found and there dosen't seem to screen shots. Just small images linked together (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). will it be hard to code back into place?
