Recently, I've been finding myself unable to neither comment nor score other comments in several galleries. At first I thought because I was logged off (as to why it's beyond me since mys settings are for me to stay logged in forever), but even after logging in I still have the problem.

Is anyone else suffering this? Is it something happening to me only? Is it my settings?

Thanks for the help.

Do you get an error message saying you've been banned from voting or reviewing, or the votes just won't show up?

The former means one of the vagilantes possibly decided you were a nuisance to the system. I don't think getting downvoted by haters is dangerous to your health, but some forms of freedom of speech can be.

I just can't do anything. I click on "comment" and I can't do comment. The votes appear on each comment in the section, but the buttons to do so do not appear. It's just weird.

I barely comment anyway, so I don't see what would be the point to block me from doing either. But whatever, I guess it's how it all goes.

Doesn't look like a ban, then. Sounds like something is wrong with the document. Adblocker on, or an userscript that removes content from the page?

The following should happen:
- add new comment link, when clicked, displays the comment field (textarea.stdinput)
- "Post Comment" appears below as a submit button (input.stdbtn)

I don't have any userscripts as far as I'm aware, and e-/g.e-/g.e-hentai and all related sites are specifically excluded from Adblock here.

That's how it used to be. Now it just appears

If using a browser that allows you to debug, can you inspect "add a new comment" and check what's there?

I use Chrome...I'll have to download yet another extension, right?

EDIT: so I decided to try on g.e-, and it seems like I can comment using g.e-.

You wouldn't need an extension for that, it's usually included in your browser (to inspect the DOM). For Chrome, select Tools > Developer Tools, then right-click on the element and select Inspect Element.

Not being able to comment on the fjords might be an undocumented feature to prevent people under 14 mod power from commenting there, but that's a wild guess. Works here, so you'd have to confirm with someone relatively new.

Right. Well, this is basically what I got:

Looks perfectly fine, so there's clearly something in the usual display_comment_field callback function that's preventing you from commenting.

Might have to ask Tenboro (or wait for him to reply) if you want something that doesn't sound like "working as intended". I'm all out of ideas here, sorry.

Completely random, but is javascript on? Also, when was the last time you restarted the browser? (browsers are freaking buggy and crash in strange ways when used for long)

ask Tenboro

Welp

Thanks for the help, Luna. For now, I'll stick with g.e- if I ever feel like commenting or whatever. I just became concerned because I feared it might lead to me not being able to do other stuff (i.e. view galleries or outright access the site) for some reason, but eh, I guess it was just all paranoia from my part, as always lol. Thanks, again.

EDIT: Didn't see your post, penguin. Sorry.

[www.whatismybrowser.com] According to this, it isn't.

As for the second question, I haven't turned off my laptop for easy two days (maybe even three).

whelp... adding a comment needs javascript.

(i believe it didn't need JS half a year ago, but don't quote me on it)

According to my browser's settings, I *do* have JavaScript activated for all sites.

Turned the laptop again, got online again, decided to check, same situation as before.

Another interesting thing: whenever I try to favorite a gallery, the window opens but I only get an "err" message, and when I try to rate a gallery, I get an "invalid user" message. Of course, like before, only on ex. g.e- is fine as always. I'll just have to stick with g.e- for this kind of stuff, again.

I did check the javascript thing again. Still the same. I probably have to check my computer settings, but I'll do so later.

bots don't even need to deal with the web page and its glitchy javascript. They just send the POST request straight to the server.

Had the same issue a week ago. Logging out, clearing everything in the history, restarting the browser and logging in again seemed to do the trick for me.
