I never wondered that, more like I was thanking God you never translated any Hana Hook. So you're saying he/she is part of your group? If so, that actually would make some sense. Of all the artists out there, Hana Hook's stories are about as dumb as your translations.

I wonder if their group would do the translations for a heap of hath. They can just blank out random scenes to encourage people to buy the oringinal so it helps the author.

And if people actually bounty that stuff with EH currency (or even BTC/actual cash), well, that's their own right. People already commission epic artwork and pay millions for VIP quality translations, so I wouldn't be surprised.

not the quality of the translation, the quality of english.
this site has plenty of bad translations written in good/very good english. there're good/accurate translations written in bad english as well.

usually, for some reason, [edit]the bad[/edit] translators remove details and add things that are not in the original. god knows why. but the english is good so... everything's fine! :V

I smell the next big troll. Larruffi group will be doing the internationalising of large publisher's works, they will be handling translation and censorship.

Team L won't mess with anything besides translations. And they will improve over the years if they get back on the right track and do it right. (I'm not defending them, though; right now, they are doing it wrong. But judging too much would be bad as I only have ONE translation here and didn't sign it because I hate signing stuff that doesn't even belong to me in the first place - well, I hate signing stuff, period. It wasn't uploaded by me either, but the typesetter, editor and QCer, and he did much more work than me doing all of this. Took me one hour to translate the whole thing back then. Thanks to something that happened with the system and me shortfusing about it, I guess we're now in a conflicting situation for futile reasons even though we were good friends, but that's offtopic.)

Right now, half of the translations from other groups also are rife with grammar slaughter, contextual inconsistencies and even outright wrong "translator's decision to rewrite something in their own way". This usually happens when you can't translate something in English without losing the slang, pun, rhymes, references or another effect, or when something just cannot be translated at all and requires improvisation.

EDIT: Yes, it isn't all that good and I asked him not to spoil the name, but guess it's time to change the stance. Seasoned translators can see that this is far from top quality, but we both spent a fair time on this, especially the author going on about no continues in the maegaki when you aren't all that familiar with canon Touhou fanatism. Also, one hour for base translation for 12 pages is extremely slow - again, seasoned translators can attest that. I was super slow back then, I still am super slow but the translation time never exceeds 1 day unless it's an entire light novel (I mean up to 800 pages here) where it needs a lot of triple-checking.

I would give Laruffi a chance to begin with, but if they do a bad job I would personally email the artists to tell them about the errors.

Sent some dead karmas on the December 2012 cove OP to remind Goatse that being aware of one's flaws and learning from past mistakes is a good thing.

I'll be honest, I almost posted a mammoth "Caution - Biohazard" logo suggestion as a watermark for the current state - to help readers identify the translation before they suffer permanent damage from the text - but refrained from doing so as it would be seen as rude, especially when posted in someone's HQ.

Still unsure what their actual goal is. The primary one looks pretty obvious.

We don't receive money from translating doujin/H-Manga anymore, they're mostly funded by credits and hath and a few exchange services like making a special software/photoshop plugin/design/tutorial/web service or something around those stuff (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) If you read through our thread section, you'll find that we've been doing that for months now. We even recommend our commissioners who want to pay by money to come to SDMC, Natty-sama and ragdoll_ since we have enough income and time consumption from translating novels.

we do receive money & bitcoin from translating Novel or H-Game script.
If you're translating novel, you will find a lot of girls asking for specific Jap-Novel's translation since the translations are very rare in some cases. And some of these girls are mostly from New Zealand.

Actually we've been overloaded with translation requests, that's why we pass some of our commissioners to the others who do a good job with a relatively quick time. Real translators who speak Japanese in their daily life can translate lines in seconds, unlike one of those translators who keeps stalling releases because of his ultra-lazy habit-but-wanna-make-a-decent-dollar attitude. If you want a good example of translator, then it's gonna be tadanohito.

People are saying that he use google translate to translate stuff in his gallery's comment, but after i check it thoroughly, I do know that those comments are deliberately lies just so that the bigger groups won't loose their usual commissioner and their translation income, I write the japanese scripts from the gallery , and put those japanese scripts into google translate and compare it with his translations, guess what i found? It's completely different , Those haters are lying. That's why more and more editors and translators are secretly coming into his sides. And hey, once you get to know this goatie guy, he doesn't look as bad as what people say.

Machine translation gets English grammar right most of the time, and google is pretty basic for translation. The problem with the groups translations is they seem like they are getting translated from Japanese -> intermediatary language -> English. Its similar to what some of the Chinese translation group's output is like. It could be fixed with a competent English speaker fixing the grammar but keeping identical meaning.
