Hmm, that explains a lot. There's SO MANY sites that just dl everything on e-hentai's front page and re-post it to pay per download sites..

It used to work the other way around. Turns out they eventually noticed it worked much better that way... until Tenboro noticed. Back to square one, suckers.

This makes it fucking harder to save galleries that may be purged. Why Tenboro why.

Instead of donation levels giving a certain number of free archives per day regardless of their size, what about a pool of additional GP which the archiver draws from first, which refreshes every day and can't be sold for credits or used for the lotteries.

Is it possible to have the archiver return how many free downloads you currently have remaining? Maybe in the user overview page as well.

Just because they aren't outright failing doesn't mean they aren't nearing capacity or getting close to bandwidth limits.

Hmm, I have All Thumbs and Too Many Pages perk grayed up, which should've added up to 500 Haths if they've been refunded already. Last I checked, it spiked from 100s to 350s... so previous Hath spenders only get half their Haths back? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

You got back the original cost, no free hath for you.

Be glad you got the full cost back. Aura perk spenders are stuck with HV stuff they don't need and you don't see us complaining.

Huh... Well, that is both nice and sad, the new archive download method. I kind of liked the freebie thing but I also liked the discount, lol. I guess the freebie is more useful for me though, lol.

Main thing I noticed is that downloading has become a lot more expensive for me. I download and read a shitload of hentai and have no stars so the cost increases quickly for me. Just to download the new cuvie tank it was 71,656 GP (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) . Might have to actually start using torrents. So all in all, I don't like this patch lol. There was a large amount of english releases today too though so hopefully releases slow down and my cost goes back down.

Thanks for your hard work Tenboro! If changes were needed to keep/or make the site more efficient, then so be it.

Just a minor suggestion, could you allow the users to choose whether they want a gallery to use gp/cp rather than it being a free download until the weekly allotment is used up?

Have you downloaded archives this week?

If there was some kind of counter for archive downloads before (might be the case since there was a "My Archives" history), it's possible that you already have reached the weekly limit and just need to wait until Monday (GMT+0000 if I recall correctly, daylight saving time confuses me). Your fellow donators might be able to help you.

So this patch benefits GS, but commoners are screwed... I feel a little lucky that I just got the GS, then again, I don't download porn as much as I used to. Even on my horniest day, I only downloaded like at most 10 galleries (and only fap to 1, the other 9 was collection of the same artist :/ )

-- Archives for galleries that were both uploaded more than a month ago and that have not been downloaded for more than a month, and are therefore unlikely to be cached, now have a higher cost to reflect the work of recreating it. (In other words, this will not affect the ~175000 most popular galleries or anything posted the last month.)
-- The archive download cost will now change dynamically depending on how many archives you have downloaded the past week. (This factor will not take effect if the recreation cost modifier was applied.)
-- Instead of a percentage discount, donation stars now instead grant a number of free archive downloads per day (averaged over a week). You can see the numbers on the donation screen.

(Patch was pushed somewhat prematurely to avoid having to do merges in the future. Various other changes may be observed due to ongoing backend changes.)

I'd appreciate a bit more clarity about the mechanics you implemented. How does the cost scale ? As a user i'd like to be aware of mechanics. Researching it would be kinda 'meh' and a usability flaw, imo. Please do tell us.

By the way, when do we get settings that don't reset across sessions ? It's counterintuitive, don't you think so? It's a huge annoyance to set perks and categories each time i login.
