It doesn't make much sense since there's no way of tracking where "downvoters" themselves commented.
The question stands the same: why should we lose features because of idiots and trolls? I liked being able to see the first row of voting, it made me "feel" the community behind it rather than seeing just an aseptical score.
I'm about 2/3 sad and 1/3 pissed off for this. Mostly sad though. Hate when cute little features get lost in the "big bad project", especially when they've been there for years.

I don't expect you to like or agree to the same things I do, but stop making fun of people when you don't. Have some respect for others, especially when they calmly voice their reasons.

Bandwidth for the galleries was a problem, H@H was the solution.

Now bandwidth for the archiver is a problem, why not use H@H to solve this problem too?
Ofc. torrents are sort of a solution, but they're messy: users need a separate program, not all torrents reflect the gallery content, sometimes there are no seeders.

So an idea is: let H@H clients serve archives, and reward GP for it. Build an in-browser download manager that can download archives from H@H clients. Keep (or lower) the GP cost for users.

I'm not in a position to decide if this is a good idea or not, i just wanted to mention it. And i do realize it's a lot of work to build.

It's not quite that easy. H@H wouldn't be able to pull the needed files to actually generate an archive in a reasonable amount of time, so you would still need a centralized server for that. Actually caching the archives would use a lot of disk space that's currently better used to handle more static ranges - a lot of H@H clients run on a VPS which means there's not a lot of spare disk available. Archives over H@H would be a lot more susceptible to reliability issues/interrupted downloads than single images. And it would be very problematic to actually estimate for how long a H@H client would be unavailable or have reduced capacity for its primary task.

Because it's added complexity. I'll be reworking how the costs work so that being uncached doesn't add such a massive factor by itself, but again, end of the month.

Dreamophobia technically got hit by a 110x multiplier this way and that was 1) an accident, 2) not for his own use, 3) just because a friend asked him about this and he wanted to confirm the issue on his side and he had auto-accept, auto-download on for some reason.

In my memory 1 MB cost 21gp or credits, so it should be a 20x multiple. Download cost your credits if your gp is insufficient. I never use download bots.

Now hold on there, I was only joking this time. I didn't even know what the whole pineapple thing was even supposed to be.

Most gallerys the bots downloaded have no cach that means all the visits flood into his main server.
Yeh Ten isn't lack of money but he has no necessary to feed the cheaters.

Anyway, the cost now is absolutely little bit high, especially big documents. Not much for the riches, however normal members can not afford that. So let's see the adjustment then.

Thanks a lot for the translation, Dream. Also, yes, the 110x multiplier was the "final one" to try and make it clear to people wondering about credit-to-GP conversion. 20x base, ~5.5x from current exchange rate.

And yes, base cost is about 21/42 GP per MB. Again, you deserve my full respect for taking it like a big boss and keeping your calm, unlike some people here (including myself (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ).
