However I haven't downloaded anything for weeks till then.

Yes, it is worth noting that you should make sure that your settings are set to MANUAL download, MANUAL accept (should be default unless something went wrong). Especially if you want to go with the plan.

Recaching a 2011 panda gallery that's almost 4GB. Ouch. Considering the formula, yes, that bites. It could have been worse, you could have paid up to 2.25 million GP, apparently. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Also, you mean GP, not credits. It costs 10 times less - 148,496 GP - now because you recached it, which is the normal price for panda galleries.

I'm not talking about the high charge, just feel strange some of donators like me do not have free link. Also i just clicked the button but not really downloaded it. My friends sent me this link complaining its high price, then i clicked it by curiosity (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/faint.gif)

I don't have enough gp then and it cost my credits.

Oh right... I forgot about the credit fallback. Do make sure you check the settings next time, auto-download is evil and right now, it's not exactly recommended. Only to get rid of autoscript users.
With this formula, that'll sure drain their funds real fast.

In other words, if something looks overpriced, that means it is not cached and you should let someone else download it (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/duck.gif)

Only the cached galleries will be free to you. There is a limit depending on your star level; that should appear on your donation screen. Keep track of how many you download since there isn't any counter.

(A gallery stays cached for 30 days, then it needs to be cached again, meaning you are less likely to get cached downloads on older and unpopular galleries. Use torrents instead whenever available; this will not clog up the server and you will not spend anything. If you are lucky enough to have H@H access, I guess you can also use that.)

I would like to add sometimes I go months without downloading anything, but then once in a while I will download everything by a few different artists or everything new with certain tags which could easily mean 200+ downloads in a week.

I'll go pretty rapidly, but I'm not using any scripts, just IDM w/ one connection per download.

As a result the cost increases really suck for me, is there any way to easily detect people using scripts instead? (Although honestly I've thought of making a script myself to do this, but I assumed it wasn't allowed.)

Either way it really screws my collection process over as I'll lose track where I was downloading the works of an artist or a particular scanlator's stuff if I have to wait a week for the multiplier to reset again... Especially if I can't even see when that happens easily.

The main reason I never donated in the past is I don't want my real name connected financially to this site (no offense). I might consider buying some extra bitcoin if the price for what I get is reasonable. Although I kinda feel like I've already "donated" by uploading and being involved in scanlations.

Hopefully when the extra usage dies down the GP costs will go back to normal... but honestly I'm anxious to download what I can now just in case more publishers follow suit like Wani.

Also I recently installed an H@H server and one thing that I wondered is why not use H@H clients as servers for the original files as well as the resized images? I *never* view using the resized galleries, it's just too slow and unpredictable. I always use an offline reader unless I'm just browsing for stuff to download to look at later.
(Although now that I think about it, the technical aspects of designing such a system would be no easy task and would require much more cache space from people running H@H.)

Another thing is for the people who just want to download everything, would it be possible to post all of the original archives to Usenet? Should be able to automate it pretty easily, including automatic upload of new galleries. You could put a week delay on it too so that stuff that's just going to get expunged for being a dupe doesn't get uploaded and then people won't have to pound your servers if they just want to download everything.

Time to shoot myself and everyone else in the foot~
I believe the real problem lies in a) how easy it is to rack up GPs and credits with little effort and b­) how you can download a lot of stuff with a few GPs/credits (yes, even after the latest change)
1) Galleries generate a lot of wealth; I've only uploaded a few not-so-popular galleries years ago and to this day I still get more GPs than I can consume
2) Back when I was still playing HV I could rack up 1+ million credits in a day just by completing the daily arena. And I was terrible at that game. Granted, this was almost 2 years ago and I have no idea how things have changed since then, but even anywhere near that amount is ridiculous (especially if you manage to distance yourself from that credit-sucking game)

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the cost of archives go up even more.
I only use the doggie bag for smaller galleries (50MB is already enough to make me wince) or galleries with no seeded torrents; everything else I torrent and it has worked wonders so far

You can't rack up that much from just daily arena anymore I assure you. Also doing all the daily arena takes a good amount of time, most people don't have time/patience to sit and do that bullshit.

Anyway, I've uploaded way more galleries than you and I don't get anywhere near enough gp from those galleries. I buy gp with credits every other day.

The reason this site was so great (at least to me) was the fast easy downloads with no wait and the fact that it literally had virtually everything ever available. Both these things have been partially ruined in the last week.

I recommend sticking to H@H and torrents for now, if and when available (can't use H@H here, connection sucks, I don't qualify). I confirmed that recaching will cost at least 10 times the original price so don't go around downloading and recaching older galleries and disable auto-download if you have it in your settings. Manual download, manual accept.

I guess Tenboro has a reason for this and/or will tweak it later. I'm not personally concerned by this issue but I'd still like to apologize for jumping the gun and trying to explain the situation the wrong way.

What was the reason for changing it to -50 from the old -20? There's now a whole bunch of galleries that need to be rechecked for comments asking for torrents, insulting people or just generally posting garbage because some will have these kinds of comments unhidden.

I don't know if you know, but you can easily avoid getting your real name connected to this site. My name isn't even once in the chain when I donate to E-Hentai.

I would just like to clarify. I don't mean upload everything all at once to Usenet. Just whenever someone generates an archive for the first time, have a script automatically upload it to Usenet.

Then just have an .nzb link like you'd have if someone created a .torrent and mass leechers could just pound Usenet for most stuff instead of hitting the archive servers every time.

Another thing is, in the event of a takedown notice, the gallery along with the .nzb would disappear, but it would likely still remain on most of it not all Usenet servers for people willing to search Usenet manually.

With .nzb's it requires little technical knowledge or effort to download and the retention times on many Usenet hosts is nearing 6 years at this point. And again, for deleted galleries that were already uploaded to Usenet before, people willing to search manually would likely still be able to get the archive of of Usenet.

Tweaknews would probably be a good provider to use for uploading to.

True, but with Usenet one could easily setup automatic downloads without hammering the servers, and some of us at least already have Usenet accounts.

If there was an easy way to setup an automatic download feed from EH for donating users it would certainly get me to donate.

My main problem is I hate using online readers and I always want the originals. I also end up needing to read like 20 doujins in one fap session because I'm so desensitized to porn at this point.

My habit is to visit EH once every month or two and spend 5+ hours leeching all of the new stuff or just everything by some new artist I've discovered.

I just don't have time to check every day, and manually downloading hundreds of galleries at once is extremely painful.
