I want to ask you guys few questions. I found out today GP for downloading archives is way more expensive than it used to be. I used to pay 500gp for 50mb with my gold aura 50% discount. But now I have to pay 4000gp for same 50mb file, no discount,
way more expensive price. And I checked out my friend's account and he still pays 500gp for 50MB file. Whats wrong with my account? I also found out my gold aura is gone from the dashboard. Little help would be highly appreciated.

Working as intended. Your gold star is fine.

A simple 10mb file cost ~1000 credits where before it's ~100 credits; an 80mb file now cost ~20000 credits.

Has there been any recent changes to the way doggie bag archive or gold star discounts works that a two to three fold increase in cost is considered working as intended?

If there can be a post or announcement that can clear up why this happened just this morning I'm not sure how it's as intentional.

For this archive I have to pay 1700 gp for 20 MB file. And it's way more expensive than what I used to pay.
And 50% discount for gold aura is gone too. Wonder whats going on right now.

Now I just get a load of free downloads rather than functionally infinite downloads, however on the plus side I can sell more gp for HV.

This stupid update screws me over colossally. I had to pay 3k GP for a 6MB gallery. Really appreciate being treated like dirt.

I've spent over 600$ on translation commissions from Saha, which first thing went into this site. I've also spent many hours translating works myself. Which also went first thing into this site. I do not upload anywhere else.

Now what's the bloody point for me to even bother commissioning or translating works myself, if the amount of GP I get will only be enough to download about 10-20 works that were uploaded more than 3 years ago.

Is there any exception in the "free archives" system?
Because I had to pay for my first archive, but then the system "realized" that I have free downloads and now any archive I look at, its cost is "Free!"

You can't pull the favoritism card for the older galleries that need to be recreated, since those are excluded from the free offer for the donators.

Dude you have 500! I've used about 60-70 and I guarantee I've seen a hell of a lot more galleries than you. Be more selective, be less horny.

Shadow Weaver is (was?) a Vigilante and has spent a lot of time working on all galleries. I doubt this update would affect him in any way. If it did, he'd understand.

Let's redirect people to the patch notes if that hasn't been done yet...

- Focus on the very first post. Don't read between the lines. Read it. Read all of it. Read the major reason it happened.
- There was a worse system before fluctuating with server exhaustion. Do you want that back? This could potentially be much more damaging to your funds.
- If you still don't get it, please learn how a server cluster works and how individuals pushing a truckload of PHP archive requests to it collectively exhaust it by doing it totally wrong.
- For people like me with a short temper and a short attention span, here's the tl;dr version:

As long as you don't cause the server to recreate an archive (this increases server processing load), you will not be charged extra, unless you download too many archives (this increases server bandwidth load). An even shorter version is download popular stuff and not lots of it. Or use torrents if they exist for older ones and wait, as they are likely to exist. Simple, right?

The 600 was a total of all commissions I've had from Sayo by this point. Which would be about 7 works. I didn't burn through that money in one go. I don't commission for GP's sake, that would be silly. But the GP I get lets me spend it on downloads, which are for entertainment/work inspiration and translations.

It's a circle:
Translate something I like -> get GP -> download stuff -> get pumped up -> translate something I like...
