I don't play with strangers, I play with people I know. I'm not really competitive when I play, so getting in with strangers is never fun for me, but some good old co-op while shooting the shit, is fun.

Conversely, I really enjoy playing games with friends beside me, be them multi-player or single-player. Every time I die, I give the controller to the friend, every time he/she dies, he/she gives the controller to me. It makes for a very fun gaming experience.
