Did Sparta ever really go into battle with Troy? I forget my Greek mythology. Don't really think Sparta woulda been there during the war to get Helen of Troy back, though. Those dudes like little boys. Or so I hear.

No, they didn't really go to war with Troy, hence it's called Greek Mythology. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Exactly. Xerxes of Sparta never fought in the Trojan war is what I am saying.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that it also removes everything else on your hard drive so thoroughly that it's impossible to recover.

Sparta was part of the Trojan war. In fact, the entire Trojan war was fought because of a Spartan (Menelaus, Helen's true husband was coincidentally the ruler of Sparta). It is of course, the Sparta of a different epoch from the Sparta that fought Xerxes and his army (of 300 fame). QUOTE(Rob Itagaki @ May 26 2011, 18:24) No, they didn't really go to war with Troy, hence it's called Greek Mythology. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) This is somewhat disputed. No one really knows if there was a Trojan war, but many scholars do firmly believe there was a great war that took place in Troy, at around the time the Trojan War is said to have happened. Of course, it likely wasn't a dispute over a particularly beautiful woman, not did it happen to have thousands of ships. For all we know it was a war between John Trojanstein and his cousin Greek McAcaian, over the ownership of a particularly beautiful chicken. EDIT: Also, Bless my soul, Herc was on a roll, Person of the week in every Greek opinion poll, What a pro, Herc could stop a show, Point him at a monster and you're talking SRO, He was a no one, A zero, zero, Now he's a honcho, He's a hero, Here was a kid with his act down pat, From zero to hero in no time flat, Zero to hero just like that (snaps). When he smiled, The girls went wild with, Oohs and aahs, And they slapped his face, On ev'ry vase, (On ev'ry "vahse") From appearance fees and royalties, Our Herc had cash to burn, Now nouveau riche and famous, He could tell you, What's a Grecian urn? Say amen, There he goes again, Sweet and undefeated, And an awesome 10 for 10, Folks lined up, Just to watch him flex, And this perfect package, Packed a pair of pretty pecs etc. This post has been edited by noahbody: May 27 2011, 09:26

God I hated that movie so much.
I wrote about it in Greek mythology class.
I got good marks.
Then I did so-so for the rest of the semester.

I can't tell if you're speaking of Troy, Hercules Heracles (let's stay consistent here), or 300. I'm assuming 300, as Hercules Heracles and Troy were a mess of myths and inaccuracies (and thus not fit for Greek Studies). Though I do love the unforgettable scene in Troy where Leonardo DiCaprio and Susan Sarandon kiss.

But Noah, Leonardo DiCaprio and Susan Sarandon never kiss in Troy. In fact, neither of them were in Troy. In fact, they're from different acting time periods.

Are you sure? Because I distinctly remember seeing several senseless scenes with temporally and spatially misplaced characters in that stupid movie.

I have a IRL (undisclosed) reason for not using the Cheshire Cat signature anymore (though I still do love Alice's Adventures Under Ground/In Wonderland). As for Ayumu Kasuga, as much as I greatly enjoy the works of Kiyohiko Azuma (especially the pearl that is Yotsubato), it was time for a change. My favorite character in Azumanga Daioh was always Mr. Kimura, anyways - he just didn't happen to have as cool a pose as Osaka. Also, if I were to go by favourite anime characters, I'd probably have put Jin from Yu Yu Hakusho instead, so it's not really an all time favourite thing. That all being said, Ryou is a wonderful character from a wonderful anime/manga (Sketchbook), almost rivaling Azumanga Daioh, so why not? Also, it makes a friend of mine happy. And if that's one thing Noahbody is all about is giving men pleasure*. *of a phallic nature. QUOTE(BlorgAlmighty @ May 27 2011, 01:40) It was the Disney Hercules movie.

What kind of a class would teach myth through a Disney movie what is this I don't even.
