Just re-watched Bubblegum Crisis 1, 2, 3, 5 & 6 for probably the thirtieth time; cried my ass off at the end of 6 again.
But this time I watched it without subtitles (on an imported Blu-Ray); I'm pretty sure I picked up a couple new words. Having watched it so much I already know roughly what they're saying (or at least the points they're getting across), so I was able to pay more attention to the speech and sentence structure since the English text wasn't on-screen distracting me.
Can't write or read Japanese still – well, I can do kana, but that's nowhere near enough. Still, it's progress.
I feel so good after I finish a good cry. BGC 6 is probably the single most reliable thing I have to make me do it. I hope it never loses that power over me... it's just so immensely gratifying on so many different levels for me.
I know most people don't react that strongly to it, but I also know probably two other people who have, so I'm not totally alone I guess. One of them first saw it the year I was born (in the 90's).
