QUOTE(Laboq @ Mar 31 2014, 09:44) I didn't get any amnesia (I'm not sure about the voidseeker) shard drops for a weeks. I don't know, maybe the trouble is here. I play on IWBTH/PFUDOR though. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) QUOTE(Randommember @ Apr 1 2014, 00:54) Not getting a certain type of drop for a week could just be a streak of bad luck.
Going with the streak of bad luck suggestion myself, but I'm surprised at how uncommon Amnesia Shards are. I've been keeping an eye on my supply of them recently, and after doing about 3800 PFUDOR arena rounds across the past three days, I've only had one drop. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif) But to be fair, I haven't paid any attention to them or anything related to Item World for more than a year, so I can't conclude that something seems off.

QUOTE(Hoheneim @ Apr 1 2014, 08:56) I won't enter into the merit of your assumptions, but the underlined text above is contradictory to say the least.
It's not contradictory, but perhaps I was less than clear. Let me clarify: if the number of tickets bought every day (I assumed 50k on average but perhaps it should be lower number) times N equals proposed one million of possible target numbers, then it will be like today's lottery: the quantity still wins; but with more randomeness day-to-day: the one day no one recieve the weapon the other day two weapons are awarded.

QUOTE(Paarfi @ Apr 1 2014, 14:57) If N is low enough and there only 5 prizes (that means if no one won the 1st prize for 10 days then someone finally won he will receive all 11 1st prizes) then winning the lottery will be incredebly hard and will give you super-mega-you-are-danixxx jackpot. Also not really good.
You know there can be a cap you know. Like everything being reset when the number of prizes reaches 10 and the number of N increases as prizes approaches 10. However, I like the super-mega-you-are-danixxx jackpot thing, it kind of makes winning the lottery completely life-changing, you know, like in real life where winning the lottery allows you to retire and shrine noodly on your private yacht all day long. This will also make the GP sink much more effective, imagine if there's 10 peerless staves up for grabs, you can bet almost everyone will pour in all their GP for a chance to win it, and it will all be burned up by snowflake. Conversely, it won't be a pay2win lottery because there will always be someone paying more - snowflake where her number of tickets = (1000000 - tickets sold). At the same time, GPs will inflate so much that people will actually tag and review to earn credits. And I decided N = 125! jk. But I'm talking about arena and item world, where the number of crystals dropped is at a set amount.
I got 3x crystal drops as a hath perk. I play on normal and I get 3 crystals per drop.
Before, if I went up to hard ( x1.2 crystals and monster damage) it would drop 4 crystals every time I got a crystal drop. Since it rounded up. And going up to Nightmare ( x1.4) would result in 5 crystals (1.2 x 3 = 3.6 rounded up to 4, 1.4 x 3 = 4.2) but now is instead rounded down to 4. Easy test for those that don't have the increased crystal drop perk, how many crystals do you get per drop when playing on hard in arena?
It was rounded down awhile ago

As I said in my previous post, I'm not referring to the assumptions you made. But saying "it'd be like things stand right now, only with more randomness" is a contradiction in itself. Adding more randomness, per se, changes the current situation significantly.

"Be like things stand now" refers to how often prizes are won. It's not contradictory to point out the situation where prizes are won just as often, but without actually knowing which prize you'd get awarded. Tenb would have to go in and additional code headaches and have yet more data to keep track of, all so people are forced to enter into lotteries for items they don't want. In short, how does adding that randomness actually improve things for anyone?

Actually, I think not knowing what the prize is until after the lottery would be a nice thing. Of course, it would be both good and bad and at this time, I can't say which one it will be more.

You guys do know the point if the lottery was to delete excess GP from the system right? This dual-lottery system has effectively quadrupled that purpose.

The point of every patch/lottery is to abuse it as much as you can before people complain so much Tenboro has to change it. A hoard of GP that you couldn't do anything with except download galleries with wasn't a problem until it reached such high numbers it would crash the database i assume. Now huge swaths of GP will lower the price of legendary drops and noodles, effectively lowering the income of poor players. Inflation in this game is huge. The chaos tokens will probably fuck over everyone as well.

Umm...can you elaborate on the "GP will lower the price of legendary drops and noodles" part?

The ability to convert GP into Credits would be my guess. Specifically, the fact that the overall amount of GP is reduced by the lottery means that there's a smaller amount of credits available, fighting against inflation. Aside from Legendary equipment being more common, which would also reduce the price (and by extension Noodles, since Legendary equipment is what they're for). Lowering inflation helps new players who otherwise could not afford new gears and matts anymore.
