NO.
YOu must have the right amount of soul fragments to soulfuse an equipment of that level.
THEN they will adapt to your level.

I read up on the wiki about soulshards. Looks like it will be some effort for me just starting out, but reasonably doable. Still seems like a good windfall for a new player anyway. Would you suggest some other request from the list though? (Although, from the rules in this thread, I don't think I am allowed to change my request anyway, and it will likely take me longer than a week to get the soulshards for any legendary gear anyway)

It's also important to note that you can only soul fuse items that are a maximum of 100 levels above *your* level. So to soulfuse a 350 level item, you need to be at least level 250 yourself. And the number of Soul Fragments to soulfuse a legendary item is a base 500 + 2% per level above you (that's an additional 10 per level). So for 100 levels above you, that's 1500 Soul Fragments.

And unless the item is AMAZING, you don't don't want to burn 1500 Soul Fragments at a low level of the game. You'll be leveling up very quickly for a while.

I'd like to return the sword, after seeing just what all is actually involved in getting the thing useful to me. I'll still wait a week before asking for another, and I realize there will be a small fee for me to send it back. Someone else may be able to use it more than me, and by the time I get enough soul fragments to bind it, I'll probably find something closer to my level to use and level pretty high to boot.
