I can see east asian characters just fine. I recently found out that my "Arial Bold" font file was corrupted recently, and I'm guessing that maybe it was the only one.

EDIT: A broken font file can't be the cause. pentiuminside's sig looks right when i use Firefox instead of Chrome.
