A suggestion I have is to get Dropbox and store your fonts on that as well so they live in cloud.

Oh yeah, absolutely, Dropbox.....at least some kind of back up holding the actual font files that's independent of your computer.

I'm on my third computer since I started scanlating (and yeah two of those were out of necessity, they threw craps with no way to salvage anything) if it hadn't been for Dropbox being there with a backup to all the fonts I'd accumulated over the years........yikes, I shudder to think >_<

And yeah, backup each and every new one I get still, the second thing I do after downloading them to my comuter is to copy 'em to my Dropbox. Just using DB for odds and ends and as my font backup I'm still on the original free space they gave me when I signed up (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I will work on this doujin soon, and the fox girl turn into a fox boy in the middle of the story. I was thinking about using different fonts to mark the change of voice for her/his moans : IndieStar BB and a "manlier" one.

IMO the masculinity is hard to portray... so i'd rather emphasize the femininity instead before she transforms.

It's probably best to stick with what the raw used, you don't really need a font to tell you he transformed when the dialogue and art already do that, IMO.

Though if you really want to, you could use CC Monster Mash for "rougher" moans like that.

Well, to clarify, it is allowed in a new / alt translation. But if you take an existing gallery and just do that, it may not be enough for it to be treated as superior.

What is the best way to align and crop scans? I have tried Perspective crop tool and it's very tricky to use since it will distort the scans. The usual ruler and a arbitrary rotation is simply to long.

It is time consuming, totally agree........and yeah, that right there is sure how I do it, set up whatever alignment tool/s you use and rotate 'em till you like 'em better / think they're right......but yeah, lots of invested time, especially if it's any amount of pages. I've gotten to where I'll only bother if it's just God awful and I feel like I just have to do it, otherwise I just crop 'em and let the rotate / don't rotate part of it fly.

This can't be overstated enough. People frequently complain about poor quality translations but things have to on the level of left-aligned comic sans in half cleaned bubbles for people to start complaining about the editing.

I recently started experimenting with Topaz Denoise 6 in Photoshop CC and found that if I converted the RGB Image to Grayscale, the Denoising effect will disappear. Why is this? Is there any solution to this? A RGB JPG has a bigger filesize than a grayscale JPEG. Does any have a good base preset for Topaz Denise,?

Also, what is a acceptable level for Gaussian Blur? Is 1.1 good? Can it be in a separate layer?

You should be able to convert a greyscale image to RGB, use denoise, then convert back to greyscale.

What about Neat Image? I use it all the time to denoise stuff.
