"This was a complete freak accident, it was nothing that I did to have caused this."
Are we really sure about that, though? A quick look at [en.wikipedia.org] Wikipedia says that the M903 & M962 SLAP rounds are designed "For use in M2 machine guns only (the open-tipped round design reduces compatibility)", and "firing of saboted ammunition in firearms with muzzle devices can leave behind residue in the bore upon firing, which can cause an increase in barrel and chamber pressure in subsequent firing. The Hard-Target Interdiction sniper manual contains the following warning on page 411: Do not fire any style saboted ammunition in a weapon fitted with a muzzle brake, compensator, flash hider or shotgun choke unless you are sure that they are compatible. The manual goes on to say that such obstructions may be hard to detect upon visual inspection, and that the obstruction is likely to become dislodged and thus be not be discoverable after a catastrophic failure."
I see a muzzle device on that Serbu; maybe it wasn't compatible.
Certainly an argument for wearing face, neck and chest-covering ballistic armor when firing such a high-energy cartridge. And it might be nice if the Serbu was designed to break open somewhere else in case of overpressure (like, you know, common pressure cookers) so as not to launch pieces directly back at the operator.
There are very few of these guns produced, so they get less safety engineering than mass-market products.
--- ETA this was already done to death on gun boards when the video first came out. It was likely a counterfeit SLAP-T round as the one in the video lacks the cuts in the sabot & case crimping of the genuine article, loaded with who knows what powder. And many think the design of the Serbu RN50 lacks sufficient safety features. It's literally named after "Royal Nonesuch", an amateur designer on social media and is about the cheapest .50 cal on the market. Is it cheaper after the life flight?
Ironically it would be easier to design a SLAP round for use in a single-shot gun if they'd known it was going to be used in one. The military's designers had difficulty getting it to cycle the action of the M2 with half the usual mass going down the barrel.

I came here to look for vtuber videos, but instead I discovered that Necromusume is a gun boards ojisan. Waa. I shall hide behind Ovan Kura Majutsu. I need pink heroine to protect me.
