But I think it is reasonable to expect at least the response along the lines of "No, I will not unban you in any foreseeable future. Stop writing me" instead of total ignore. It's not like Alpha7 have to create a personal responce for each one, so lack of answer in one month is understandably unsettling.

Bans aren't generally absolute unless you've previously been hit with one. So if you're not getting a reply, PM me instead.

Laruffi is terrible. That is all.

Laruffi should be prohibited content for sheer shittiness.

I am not forgiving of hate expunges. I am not fond of clearing willful bad expunges (sometimes four times) on multiple galleries for weeks of relentless attacks of the Laruffi galleries. The first few galleries on the first few days, I simply cleared them and moved on, expecting it to be the usual heat of the moment bad judgement when the gallery was published, and typically go away as the galleries moved further away from the Front Page as days passed. This is what usually happens with mass-"I hate this crap" expunges. This was different. It started here...

22 days later, I sent 19 PM ban warning for this...

... and it keep on going, and getting worse. Four days later, 25 people were submitted for bans, including some who were warned. The 25 were pulled off of 3 expunge petitions before they were wiped that same day. Considering I tolerated this nonsense for almost 4 weeks, I already was quite merciful. Now, I am just sick of it. I replied to PMs about the ban for a week, and then just stopped reading them afterwards.

While there were a few who picked a bad time to jump on the bandwagon, many were re-expunging these after I cleared them. With the change in the Expunge Tracker away from the forums, I cannot see the many Laruffi galleries that I cleared to see which made a one-off mistake and those who repeatedly tried to expunge Laruffi galleries. I did log a few petitions before I cleared them. So, what I do have shows Luke had been doing it for at least a week so, yeah, no second chance from me.

After 19 warnings and 25 bans, the problem has pretty much gone away. I would prefer that the 25 do not get a second chance to repeat this.

So in this personal case, I see why Luke78 would be exempt from unbanning (since he decided to do it twice regardless of being informed of convention, 2x innocents>1x completely guilty). But it seems to me in my entirely humble and insignificant opinion that moderators as a whole are understaffed and/or overworked. As much as it is Alpha7's prerogative to ignore PMs about unbanning, it is entirely detrimental to the community as a whole if the members don't get any feedback whatsoever. Let's try to keep this whole "moderation" process as impartial as it can be and let's not let escalating tensions realign our directives...

To warn 100 men, you just need to punish one.

And to punish the one, you must have firm guidelines for all.

And some users never see the PM they got sent cos they don't care about the forums therefore will continue to act retarded until they are blocked from doing it again and go to the forums to ask why they are blocked.

Firm guideline: that's what you SHOULDN'T do in the first place. There's no excuse here to expunge others' work just because you don't like that.

Well, when Tenboro says "Bans aren't generally absolute unless you've previously been hit with one." and Alpha7 says "I am not forgiving of hate expunges." that means absence of firm guideline regarding unbanning. And this

sounds like having no guidelines at all for me.

Well, seeing as I'm the only one who can permanently ban or unban people, the enforcement is about as consistent as you can get. But I do prefer when people work it out with the one who requested the ban in the first place.

I request bans only when all else fails. With this mess, the more I tried to fix it/end it, the worse it got. It was time for it to end.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to justify any of their actions, I'm all for their ban, (exceptionally if they have repeat offenses) but I just felt it was necessary to point out that if I were in their shoes, I would have liked at least a small generic PM with something along the lines of what Paarfi posted earlier in this thread. The system works just fine when there's sufficient feedback (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

EDIT: I've been informed that this particular sub-forum actually has Feedback in its title...
