probably never. judging from WTB, everyone is maging. except for nobodyxxx, jenga, and andywong, but eventually they will. you have mage gears, so you're ok. This post has been edited by treesloth16: Jan 17 2014, 21:33

You are getting it backwards. When something is not popular or people stop using it, it gets buffed or the competence gets nerved. That's why light has become apparently more useful nowadays. It's a matter of balance. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) but honestly, why would Tenboro 'roll back' his recent nerfs on heavy and 2H? i don't think there is a strong motivating factor.

I've seen worst— much worst... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) As for melee: I'm still waiting for Tenb to add proper melee ability (most of melee 'ability' we have now is just old prof bonus disguised as ability that we have to spent AP on it to get the same or worst bonus) and for him to finally get rid of the cursed Overcharge (as he said he would) or at least revamp it.

I hate it too, but I stick with mages. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Not necessary, I guess. OP still give higher expected damage than Butcher.

Depend on what kind & how many assumptions you made for all the various variable when you calculating the answer; the number can go either way—just saying.

An interesting Idea would be to allow potency like: more Domino strike, Counter attack, completely negate Resist.
Thsi will however come with malus on Attack power or higher mana Cost.

It may be fun, exchange Mana for more power.
It just remind me, it may make different mages have their own characters. For example: Dark, high attack & high mana cost & low cure & low speed; holy, mid attack, mid cost, high cure, low speed; Ice, low damage & low cost & high cure & mid speed; wind, low damage & low cost & low cure &high speed; fire, mid damage & mid cost & low cure & mid speed; Lightning, low damage & low cost & mid cure & mid speed;
And you can choose what kind of fighting style you like in different place, maybe collecting two sets of mage gears will be a useful strategy~

Did anybody post the math behind such an assertion? I'd really like to know what assumptions went into their argument... I highly doubt it's true for either mace or DW club/anything, I don't see how it could possibly be true for a 1H user with any weapon, so the only cases I can see it maybe being true would be Niten, Estoc, and DW with no club.

If I had godlike ping like you (20ms?), I would melee too. With 165ms ping, I can finish TT in 14min. With 99ms ping, I can finish TT in under 7min. Imagine how much fapping time I could have back. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Damn, at 99ms, DwD in 55min. low ping is awesomeness..... This post has been edited by treesloth16: Jan 19 2014, 00:07

Agreed, there's going to be a ton of variables, including things like what difficulty you're playing on. However, all else being equal (which, it isn't), OP does have the advantage of keeping you in Spirit Stance for longer.

@Ichy: Those ideas are better suited for the forge traits you mentioned. Given how mages are quite head-over-heels for economizer potency, despite it giving no damage, a potency that trades mana for damage might be treated as worse than nothing. @gc0018: Possibly, but there's also options in the vein of holy having MP drain option and dark having spirit drain option. @MSimm1: You know, the cooldowns can be set back to unreducable 7/4/2 turns, or Imperil could be removed from game. @treesloth16: That's not possible - you cannot perform over twice faster with 99ms ping than 165ms ping, because a) browser takes time to render a page, (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) 165/99 <2 and c) 99ms ping is certainly 4 turns/s, meaning it is beyond the limit of improvement in speed. 165 could be with fast browser, too. Maybe upgrade your browser?

The other thing can be added into ability. Because some people like it and some others not, they can choose by their will not be forced. This post has been edited by gc00018: Jan 19 2014, 03:37
