Toaru Majutsu no Index LN.
It's much clearer than the anime adaptation for the fight scenes.

The Maztica trilogy. Essentially the Spanish conquest of Mexico, D&D style.

Newspaper. So this awesome country is really a paradise in earth, the best place to come and spend some money; despite we're drowning with blood and misery...

The Middle East: 2000 Years of History from the Rise of Christianity to the Present Day, by Bernard Lewis.

I'm reading this because I want to have a better understanding of what is happening today in the Middle East.

Right now, I am reading my reply to this thread. Later on, I will continue reading Captain Vorpatril's Alliance by Lois McMaster Bujold. It'll be the third or fourth time I've read it. Her Vorkosigan Saga stuff is great, very gripping & amusing.

Peter the Great: His Life and World, by Robert K. Massie; a biography of the man who founded the Russian Empire. The ongoing events in Ukraine and Crimea have rekindled my interest in re-reading this book.

Incidentally, Massie is one author who has a gift of making history sound truly interesting. Nicholas and Alexandra, a recounting of the tragic lives of the last Russian Tsar and Tsaritsa, is another one of his engaging works.

Finished "Thinner" by Stephen King

Now onto "The Drowned World" by J.G. Ballard and it's pretty good so far, very nice post-apocalyptic detail.
