The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien. I've read several other works by Tolkien, but curiously this is my first time reading The Hobbit. It's pretty good so far, they've just been captured by the elves. Gettin' exciting.

I remember reading it years after I've read the LotR trilogy and being surprised at how much more lighthearted it is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was intended for younger audiences. I was given the trilogy at around eight but I was ten or so before I could actually stomach it, the Hobbit would have suited me much better at that age.

Goedel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid.
That was one mindbender and braintrainer of a book.
Also, finally finished The Swarm/Der Schwarm.

The Road to Berlin by John Erickson. Haven't been able to find a copy of The Road to Stalingrad.

The Council War series. by John Ringo. Rereading it again because it is a series that I personally enjoy quite a bit.
Planned on finishing a series by Harry Turtledove but for the life of me I forget the name of the series. Oh, got it, the darkness series. A large fantasy series based around an allusion to WW2. I want to finish it when I manage to buy the rest of the books in the series.

That's a good one. I also liked At the Mountains of Madness.

It was originally written for Tokien's son as a bit of a bed time story, so it's safe to say that about being for younger audiences. Still, it managed to create an exciting atmosphere.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
Pretty overrated book. Good writing, but the characters are pretty flat and the end is a bit anti-climactic.

Skimmed through "The old man and the sea."
Kind of meh, I'm just not the type for stories that deal with a very littl part of the world and single, insiginificant persons... I mean.. I get the whole Idea behind that Guy's integrity, but it's not that much of an uncommon protagonist, now, isn't it?
Also: I'm feeling very itchy about getting the Ice and fire novels. In english, of course.

I liked The Hobbit. It was painful for me to get through the Lord of the Rings...

I'm gonna read Igrok by Dostojewski. Because I wanna feel smart. No, but really, the novel is short and zany, a good one to get into his stuff.

Ooh neat, a fellow fan! These days I've been reading The Idiot. Very slowly, mind you, but it's a great work.

QUOTE(Benjiro @ Feb 19 2012, 16:48) I'm reading stargate: equestria A crossover fanfic between stargate and MlP that caught my attention out of three reasons: It's very well written although it's a crossover fanfic. Stargate and ponies. STARGATE and PONIES!!!!
That... sounded so interesting I dropped everything to look for it. Just started, but it seems very promising so far.
