GP lottery is for Weapons..

Could change it so the maximum level of a monster (or combined total of levels for monsters) created by a player is a function of the player's current level. So you'd need a correspondingly high level character in order to have a high level monster or even multiple mid to higher level monsters.

Discourages multi-accounting by making it a time sink at the very least.

If increasing the cost of ticket after certain tickets amount is encouraging multi-accounting, then _decreasing_ the cost after certain amount would discourage it, no? Might be not a bad thing and please dont throw stones at me.
Its pretty amasing to hear all the whines about the same people winning again. As I see it, the lottery is for very high and very active players, working for a good balance. Probably even higher level of entertainment than playing with material in forge. As there are not very lot of very high level players, we obviously see the same names all over. The idea of some sort of bonus for star members doesn't look plausible, look, there are a lot of bonuses for stars, like extra exp and mastery points, and those are not hidden. No much reason to hide another bonus to the lottery, if only it existed.
Lottery as it is now pretty cool as it is, though i like idea of extra small lottery. Bindings and such, even maybe lottery with random unknown prize? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Like x some bindings, or few artifacts, or 10 greater mana potions, etc. Doubt it would serve as a good gp sink, just for a little fun. Or the small prizes could be added to the existing lottery, like 50 or so small random prizes, not even worth mentioning in the winning listings, but making a lot more people who participated happy.

if the objective is to discourage multi accounting that would be the way to go.
not that i care, but the new monster lab, with the cost for new slots scaling up faster than before, makes multiaccounting even more worthwile.
the only way the new monster lab discourages multiaccounting is that low PL monsters are not good anymore, so you need to put a bit more effort in your multiaccount in order to get the tokens to raise scavenger, but that's about it.

I don't agree with this. A cooldown would be fine, but not for a week. Maybe a day or two, so they can't just bid on everything without risk. They'd have to be really sure that "Yes, I definitely want this".

I didn't read the whole thread but I think all this ruckus was because of the same people winning at the lottery?

Personally, I don't see the problem, I mean we don't fight vs other players, so how does other players getting better gear concerns us?

And participating in the lottery is hardly mandatory.

I kind of think people are just jealous that they don't win stuff often while they see other people getting good stuff.

Regardless, if we want a fairer lottery, just do it how they do it in RL.

We choose and buy numbered tickets from 00000001 to 99999999. Players would have to enter the number they want to buy and the system will check whether that number is available or not.

Snowflake chooses a number, if no ticket holders got that number then the prize moves forward to the next round.

In fact we can have a live video stream daily where Tenb rolls a dice to determine those 8 magical numbers, no stupid predictable algorithm, chance in all its glory.

The current lotto actually is pretty similar to many lotteries around the world. Thinking any lotto is fair is just gambler fallacy.
