Regular flu only gives 0.1 to 1% of the population pneumonia. Covid can be 14-20%.

The WHO still had a reputation back in March last year. The problem is that we were getting no data out of China where the virus had been raging for months. In March 2020 I was complaining about Democrats and leftists around the world organizing political marches, mardi gras, and Chinese new year events with huge crowds instead of being cautious before we got the data about the virus. Dems were busy impeaching Trump and letting China spread the virus and buy up all the masks.

It was by June / July that we were getting confirmed fatality rates outside of China who has not cooperated to this day. Covid 19 is about 3x as deadly as a bad strain of the regular flu but its mainly ages 50+ that are at risk of developing pneumonia at the high rates that countries in Asia were freaking out about at the time think it was like SARS again.

As I said in July, the correct measure would have been to have closed borders in January and failing that, we should have isolated people over 60 and taken measures to support them and their carers. This could have reduced the death toll by up to 50%. Dem governors instead put sick people into nursing homes which killed thousands in the US.

I hope that was not the best stupid thing I've said that you could find, there are plenty on this forum.

edit: also 14-20% of the population are at risk of developing complications, so the statement is still accurate.
