Even if the Dumbocrats convict Trump on those stupid fake made up charges so he can't run for president again, which is the only reason they're doing it, he can still run again anyway. If one side can make up shit and change rules around then so can the other side.
I'm not following the impeachment trial much because it's ridiculous but I saw the collection of Dem hypocrisy and hatred videos ordering people to hurt Trump supporters and gather at the capitol for their own reasons and fight which is way worse than him saying peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard. That Maxine "Mad Max" Waters is an especially crazy and violent psychopath, and as fugly as they come.
Congress can hide under the smokescreen of the impeachment trial and create some new laws. If you remember, it was President Clinton and his attorney general that tried to get manga and anime regulated the same way as other media. They failed, but enough people supported it that a much watered down version called the Protect Act was passed by the next president after Clinton since Congress refused to let go of the censorship issue.
The current Congress is working on restricting manga and anime once again. This time, there is bipartisan support in Congress and the Senate. The legislation wants to do a bunch of things, but several things affect e-hentai site content and manga/anime torrent users. One is that "child pornography" is being replaced by "child abuse sexual material". The legal criteria to be child porn in a courtroom setting is fairly onerous which is why Boku no Pico and a lot of other stuff on e-hentai and elsewhere hasn't been eliminated. This change in legal wording when combined with FOSTA-SESTA passed in 2018, will then makes it illegal for interactive computer services to knowingly facilitate sex trafficking. Facilitate is a big change from "publish" which is the gist of Section 230. Sites like e-hentai and nyaa sukebei "facilitate" but do not publish. Thus, this wording change could affect both e-hentai and nyaa sukebei. End to end encryption will be legally prohibited unless a backdoor is provided to the gov't to decrypt any communications. Your VPN and its encryption will have a hard time and wags who say a foreign company cannot be legislated by the USA congress are correct up to the point where trade treaties exist for reciprocal legal actions. In the past, people depended upon "safe harbor" because Congress couldn't get Section 230 changed due to the president or the senate being uncooperative. Past laws that Congress did get passed were struck down by the Supreme Court which said that censorship of illegal material cannot ignore Section 230. The Earn It Act is, in my opinion, a deliberately crafted law package of "unintended consequences" waiting to happen. It can easily stop freedom of speech forum sites because an unmoderated spigot of hate speech would no longer be covered under Safe Harbor. The legal changes in this Act can be easily twisted around to allow use for observation of hate speech since you would no longer be legally allowed to have end to end encryption in each major segment. For example, the segment between your browser and your VPN provider would be regulated. Similarly, the VPN provider (ISP) has a segment from their site to the destination which is also subject to the law. I don't know the final wording of the law, so the above description of segments can change.
The whole thing is a bait to get Trump to testify so they can entrap him, as well as distract from their other bs like anime said. I have no doubt they'll go all the way with this uncostitutional impeachment and maybe they could even succeed considering how many republicans lack a spine.
At least after the republic came the empire, i'd welcome the American Empire and would cheer for them to annex canada/mexico/cuba/puerto rico and consolidate the continent.

An empire requires patriotism which is in short supply. Patriotism is a bad word now especially since it includes concepts of meritocracy as in making america great again. The country would degrade into socialism as the smart money and brains leaves for better countries to live in which don't have the AOC seizing 90% of all annual earnings over XXX thousands per year or YYY millions total lifetime value. While my numbers are imaginary, there have been various proposals similar to this made but they've all been shot down as unconstitutional.
As more of the fading boomers die off, it might be possible to vote in a new constitutional amendment as soon as the socialists figure out how to set an earnings cap on corporations that are laterally layered for tax purposes. These corps aren't subsidiaries, so you cannot use that modified subsidiary tax law you were just about to say would be changed. One of the most controversial change would require the IRS wording to change from net earnings into "gross" earnings, otherwise people will still be able to form corps that control a fund or instrument able to inure(*) its net earnings to the benefit of any delegated member, delegated authority, or individual. If this isn't done, people will just continue to create their own variations of "Ilhan Omar Foundation" or "The Clinton Foundation" to shield a lot of their income. Any kind of amendment that doesn't shoot down entities that many sports stars, politicians, and major corporate executives use will also fail to get those people to pay.
That's what I was thinking about the Demonrats of congress. They're old and won't be around forever. Reminds me of the snakes who defended OJ Simpson knowing he was guilty and lying about it, twisting things around and making shit up. Their karma came back for them and they died afterward.

I managed to watch the impeachment trial today and Trump's defense team destroyed the Dems. Lots of videos of them being fucking hypocrites and submitting old Twitter twats from a year ago like they were new, editing Trump's rally speech, calling out their blatant lying and all kinds of popcorn moments. I was laughing at some of it because it was so satisfyingly good. If it'll work or not in his favor, who knows, the world is so ass backwards these days.
