People in Kenya are protesting tax hikes. I had no idea they paid taxes in Kenya. What do they tax, their mud huts and chickens?
Kenya was kinda doing well when they were focusing on fundamentals, stability, employment, education, investing in infrastructure that increases economic productivity and reducing corruption.
The problem was they got in on the belt and road initiative building expensive infrastructure with questionable economic value and questionable quality. Also they have then were encouraged to become import reliant with China especially. Then as inflation hits post covid19 and due to all the supply chain nonsense they have been rekt.
When they default on the loans that build infrastructure out of tofu, they then lose loads of it. They then asked China to restructure the debt which gives some relief but in return higher rates and more forfeiture of infrastructure.
Belt and road has been a pretty bad deal since 2016. Before then the loans were pretty good and better than anything else available to many countries but now are worse than what the wall street vultures offer.

Travelling through Netherlands; Lots of protesters and signs on the highway put up by farmers regarding immigration policy.
Too many shitty globalist policies that are screwing over everyone. They tried to shut down all the farmers in Netherlands which made them all go super conservative. They wanted to shut them down to build a global special economic zone dystopia.
My country is also pursuing mass immigration to appease the globalist gods. However not even recent migrants can understand it because of the cost of living crisis.
Literally everyone outside of government: Maybe we could slow down the mass migration.
Government: Okay, we have heard you, we are increasing it by three fold.
Even far leftists are saying they can't really understand the mass migration as its making rents and property prices skyrocket.
