A lot just want to live their lives with some degree of dignity. A vocal subset of these people are potentially obnoxious, but many are nice in my experience. Substantially nicer than the general population, even, in some cases. Tgis is if you're treating them as fellow humans in conversations.
Are they weird? Yeah, sometimes. Are there ones I kind of try to avoid? Definitely. But I don't think that's too different from the rest of the population (and autistic people in general, tbh).
I had the experience in autism support groups my parents tried to get me in of experiencing many that in my opinion were significantly less appealing to talk to and made me feel like I didn't want to be grouped in with them. As for an analogy, I said that faggots need sustenance to survive. Police officers also need to eat food. However, just because you eat food and a police officer eats food that doesn't mean vicariously you are a police officer.
