Good idea; I'll drink one cup of sake to purify my curse a tiny bit before shrining. And if I get shit, then I drown my sorrow in alcohol.

you can only turn them off when you have no trouble surviving, and only for 1h + shield style. Otherwise it doensn' t make sense to turn them off.
