Managed to be defeated in an arena yesterday. And today too. And it's not SPL, it's a regular arena.
Farming proficiencies besides your main element as mage is very dangerous, really.

CMIIW, but based on my experience, as long as you use the spell related to that element once, you will gain prof. Could you have just use your main element, and then once a round, when it's safe, cast one spell from the one you want to farm? That spell will do almost no damage, but it's pretty safe, and that's what I did in REs, at least.

yes that works very well if proficiency is what you are aiming for. It will slow you down a bit, though.

Thanks for the kind advice, but what exactly do you think I am doing? It's because I cast those spells that I put myself in big danger. Anything that I may do beyond the regular gameplay is extremely dangerous.

Oh, I thought you are going all-in with the farmed element, gears and abilities and rotations. I usually use the lowest tier spell for the farmed element since that's the fastest to cast, when there is only 1-2 monsters remaining, and at +80% HP just to be super safe. My apologies if I offend you, wasn't aware that at lvl 500 things can be that difficult.

I do T3 Holy, T3 Lightning, T3 Dark in a row. Surefire way to have everything dead within 3 blasts. Yeah it takes more cast time, but then I'm 100% sure that everything's very dead in the end. It being dangerous is also why I do that only in arenas or early IW/Grindfest.
