Offer enough to get their attention. If they think you're gonna lowball, they won't bother to respond.

Start shrining noodlies for 1H. The chance to get a peerless matching staff is very low, but the chance to get any legendary rapier of your level is not too bad.

Wait a minute, you are supposed to make an offer immediately? I thought you asked them first like how much they are willing to sell it for? I've been doing it wrong then. I'll try again.

Hmm... another veteran recommended me to sell instead of shrining trophies since too much RNG will be involved, though.

Level 254 good gear largely doesn't exist unless somebody shrines for it. If it was Isekai, I'd be shrining at least my self-dropped Noodlies until I got a leg force shield & leg shortsword or rapier of slaughter. Level 500 players who can afford to buy the noodles are much less likely to get something they can actually use. It also won't kill you to use a mag rapier until you reach level 310, max out Faster Imperil and can switch to budget mage. The difference isn't that much, and 254->310 doesn't take that long if you play a lot.

Even dirt-cheap mage with unprefixed legendaries and forge level 0-5 on the phases blows melee out of the water from 310 onwards.

Actually I would expect good legendary gear to exist around level 200~250 if not earlier. In isekai, we usually start getting good legendary gear around level 200~250, and that is with everyone in isekai being an ultra fast "powerleveler" due to high EXP bonus.

In persistent, if someone knows what they are doing, they should be able to get mostly legendary gear around level 100, I would think. The thing is that many new players might not know the best way to develop themself.

It used to be the case that legendaries didn't start appearing in Persistent until level 300, but that was before the game was patched to make the game way easier for low-level players, which was...like a really long time ago by now. Not sure how many years it's been. Like 7 years, maybe?

QUOTE(firzein) *
A month ago I saw another player who owned some legendary rapiers, one of which seems great and I wanted to buy it. I assumed he is aiming to sell it, the rapier is 250s and his level is 350s, and he went to ask for a price estimate in the forums. So I went ahead and send him PM + MM asking if he's willing to sell it to me + his price tag. Through MM I can see that he read the mails, but he didn't reply.

Can't say for sure if he wants to sell it, just because he asked for a price estimate. He can always soulfuse that rapier if he wants to keep using it. You just need to wait for a reply. If none comes, don't ask again unless like a really long time passes (more than a year).

Well I do have a Mag rapier ready to use just two dozen levels from now. But everyone seems to prioritize clear speed, and I suppose getting cutting edge equipments earlier will help me do that sooner. But why does Lv500 players are less likely to get usable equipment? Is that because their equipment is already top notch, so it's harder to find "better" equipment?

Putting aside the fact that legendaries always has prefix, why is imperil the main factor of mage switching? I do play mage when RE to get proficiency, and it feels survivability is a bigger issue than damage. And at least for my current wallet, 0-5 upgrades on phases doesn't sound dirt-cheap to me.

Whoa wait what? How does gathering legendaries at ~100 even work? And here I though gathering a Mag set at ~180 is extremely lucky. I can't do arenas in IWBTHV at ~100, and neither WTS nor in-game shop has legendaries at ~100. I mean, it's easier now, since my first Legendary drop is at 198, but to have a legendary set at ~100 sounds like a pipe dream. Is it through shrining?

Well, you may be right, his wording was "will they get at least a few hundred k or just an auto scrap?" so I thought if I offer some hundred k he will consider selling it to me instead of scrapping. It is neither soulfused nor scrapped yet.
I asked 3 times in a span of 1.5 month, I hope that doesn't offend him

To clarify one thing: Legendary/Peerless equipment is not the goal, but the mean. Lvl500 players need such high quality equipment to even be able to play, due to the extreme toughness of monsters. But the problem is: even when playing at PFUDOR difficulty, dropping the appropriate equipment requires insane luck. Or dropping anything remotely sellable. For instance, most Lvl500 players salvage 95-98% of their Legendary drops simply because they're worthless.

Besides mage equipment that are still worth something while Legendary, or perhaps Savage Power of Slaughter/Savage Shade of the Shadowdancer, everything else needs to be of Peerless quality for a Lvl500 player for it to be worth anything or even usable.

As for a matter of mage survival: playing mage requires heavily upgraded Legendary gear to be decently playable and powerful. Else you have a clear lack of firepower that could make up for the lack of defense.

Forget what BWS said. Getting Legendary drops at Lvl100 is mostly insane luck, even if the player knows exactly what he's doing and is able to play at an extremely difficulty. In which case his XP multiplier will be so high that he'll get a lot of levels by the time he does drop a Legendary. Unless the Lvl100 player shrines his Christmas trophies and gets excellent luck too, but that's really not worth the hassle.

Because there is another issue: even if a low level Legendary does exist, none of the players of the same level is really ready to throw more than a few hundreds of credits for it. Even worse: if the player has even more luck, he'll drop a Legendary that higher level players will consider using, and they'd be ready to pay millions of credits for it. Which in the end means that no low level player will even use such an equipment.

Overall, Legendary gear is just not cut for low level players, unless it's really a very crappy Legendary (terrible prefix and suffix) which only redeeming qualities are his raw stats.

I see. I was looking at this particular comment and thought "Am I really that far behind?" and got desperate in getting better gears. That particular setup is more of an exception than the norm, I suppose? Though getting a usable peerless one hand would be really nice. To be honest, I am willing to consider legendaries even of crappy fixes at this stage.

In the above case, I will continue using my current mage set on REs only to get profs. Thanks for all the tips everyone.

Managed to be defeated in an arena yesterday. And today too. And it's not SPL, it's a regular arena.
Farming proficiencies besides your main element as mage is very dangerous, really.
