Heh. The more I see of it, the less I get the shortsword trend that keeps going nowadays since a couple of years.
Even going beyond the imperil bullshit, that is, already, something I don't get.
Like let's take the best melee style, that has everything, damage, survivability, mindlessness, almost complete lack of any need of direct intervention from the user, and just make so you have to tap buttons every 2 seconds instead.
But heh, at least it's faster (sometimes), heh. Okay. You do you, at least it's not (usually) slower. Heh.
But using the sole 1h weapon that is not the best in anything in any niche, that goes beyond me.
Axes? Strongest ADB, best BW 1H weapon.
Club? The sole 1H weapon to Stun, also high ADB.
Rapier? The sole 1H weapon to Penetrate Armor, which is the most valuable proc by the way (Built in imperil amirite? Remember why you use Imperil? Because breaching defense does that much)
Wakizashi? Best defensive 1H weapon, highest parry, DEX and AGI.
Shortsword? Best at nothing. Beaten by the Axe in its generalist BW role, beaten by the Rapier in versatility, beaten by the Club in crowd control, beaten by the Waki in defensive play. It literally has no redeeming roles. It's just average everywhere, and using anything else is just better in something, while its well-roundedness isn't really useful nor relevant anywhere.
Idk...1H has no survivability issues, so if you have to use a bleeding weapon, there is literally no reason to use a Shortsword instead of an Axe. Literally none. You don't need that base parry stat. Block is all you need, and you get already a lot of parry from the DEX PAB alone, more than you will ever need.
Well rant end. It's not like I want someone to explain something to me, like I don't already know that I'm right (IMG:[

TL;DR Imagine using the Virgin Shortsword instead of the Chad Axe.
