Will have to see the changes, but I liked having the low level arenas available and given my limited play time restrictions usually chose to do them in lieu of the higher level arenas.
- They allow poor but hardworking players to do more arenas per day in total and make more credits
- They allow very poor players without free time to quickly earn a few 1000 credit completion bonuses per day
- They allow players who wish to keep their level low to earn credits without an Exp modifier
- Low level arenas are good and fun for building deprecating proficiency without having to use mana draughts
- Certain arenas have different size mobs which could be useful for playtests
- If you are ultra weak, pathetic, and ill-equipped, even a high level player might only be able to do the lowest arenas (imagine if you are robbed of all your credits and left to fight naked)
As a test of what a naked and penniless player can achieve, I will try some tests at PFUDOR difficulty at various levels.
First test: at the beginning of isekai season 2 I entered a grindfest at level 1. Due to
beginning level scaling formula endpoints I was able to easily beat monsters, taking minimal and doing high damage. This performance would be reduced with a tiny bit of leveling.
I immediately crushed the first wave of three monsters and hit level 2. I crushed the next wave of three monsters and hit level 3. I crushed the next wave of two monsters and hit level 4. Monster damage was beginning to increase by many times and I had to cure but easily beat the wave of three monsters and hit level 5.
Now I met five monsters, including a Dalek. I was hurt by its spirit attack which did 198 damage out of 550 hp but managed to cure. At this low level my mana regeneration was faster than I could cure, so I noticed I effectively had infinite mana, and one cure almost fully restored my hp.
I progressed in the same pattern then struggled against four monsters at round 8 and level 8. The damage I took was beating my cure cooldown, so I had to start using defend, which also happened to recover a huge 145 health out of my 580 hp total.
At round 9 and level 9, I struggled to survive because defend takes overcharge to get its health regeneration. I managed to barely clear with cure and minimal defends, and prepared for the next round at near full health and eight stored overcharge pips.
At level 10 against five monsters I was defeated as I let my health get too low before I started using defend regularly, and was quickly worn down and obliterated. With better strategy I feel I should have been able to clear it and at least one more round.
I didn't notice at the time but seemed to hit level 11 as I died?Ah, I discovered a bug. As I navigated the game menus, I increased by 1 level each time. Apparently there is a game limitation where you can only increase 1 level per round. At some fiddling my character realized he was actually level 16, with 660 hp. After noticing I needed to raise my stats and abilities, I had 811 hp and my punching power increased from 10 to 49 damage.
I still had 99 stamina so I went into the grindfest again. Now I could use spirit stance and cast protection, though it lasted a measly twenty turns. I died on round 6 while at level 19. At this level range the limitation was running out of mana and having no items to restore it.
Another grindfest attempt ended on round 5 while at level 22. I again died due to running out of mana but with enemies getting stronger, I could possibly have been killed before then due to overwhelming my cure cooldown, defend, and overcharge stocks.
I completed tower floor 1 for the exp boost, then First Blood arena while at level 23, but was one-shotted on Learning Curves arena while at level 24~25. Even a lone enemy is getting too dangerous by this point to fight naked.
