to all that use IW services: Accidents can happen, but some are easily prevented. Not by human action but by script, fail proof. IW services can run HV Utils, even if they don't like it. Because that script protects good items, locked or unlocked, equipped or not equipped. So you can't forget. Takes out the weakest link, the one behind the keyboard. My tip: ask the IW service provider if he/she uses HV Utils before you send your equipment.

It has to be unlocked, but you can reforge equipment from the Item World selection screen rather than having to go to the forge, so it does at least eliminate the tired-wrong-selection problem. It also auto-locks filtered equipment (by default, legendaries, peerlesses, and certain mags) whenever you go to the equipment shop, so you'd have to re-unlock it there to be able to accidentally salvage or sell.

Therefore the risk is not non-existant. I also don't see my IW10 items in Item World, which forces me to go to the salvage reforge menu. Equipments don't relock straight after unlocking, and I've been able to salvage "by accident" something. Because that's exactly how we do in vanilla: go to reforge, unlock, reforge, lock.

I'd say that a script that gives the illusion of safety makes the danger even more... dangerous, since one won't be as careful. Yes you'll probably be less likely to do an error, mostly under IW10, but the zero risk doesn't exist. So I'd kindly appreciate if people did not make it sound like if it were the case.

The only true safety is the game being unable to salvage equipped items: it doesn't even appear in the Salvage menu, while it does appear in the Reforge menu. I knew about it, but never had the reflex to do it.

I'm saying all this because I don't appreciate the "HV Utils this", "HV Utils that" preaching hegemony. It's just as detestable as the "play rapier+force+power of slaughter" preaching we used to have. I don't deny that that script is able to do lots of things, but you guys should remain neutral and not stigmatize those who don't like it. Not to mention that as handy as it can be for various purpose, it is not magical and even less void of serious flaws. Flaws that are the reason why I dislike it BTW.

You should even less be pointing your fingers at those who offer IW service and who don't use HV Utils. That's not because one doesn't use a given script that the service is not high-quality. I've taken my responsibilities by doing a very generous offer to make up for the accident, and I'm out of that annoying bullshit IW business now. I'll keep the "victim" in my inventory as a souvenir.

there isn't, but how it works is like this:
1. From the IW menu, click the unlock button
2. From the IW menu, click the refurge button
Please note that at this moment, the item is unlocked, and you are on the IW menu.
On this menu, there is no way to salvage or sell.
So, you'd have to go to another page: either the forge or the equipment shop. So that's the next step (illogical, but okay)
3a. When you go to the equipment shop, the item will be locked by the script. You press 'sell all' and that IW item is not sold.
3b. When you got to the salvage page, there is all kinds of warnings there. You would have to select the item, and then click 'salvage', ignoring all warnings. This page does not even look the same as the reforge page in HV Utils. And, you would not need to go to the reforge page or the salvage page anyway. Because salvage you can do easily from the equipment shop page, and reforge from the IW page.
3c. You stay on IW page, with item unlocked, and select the item. Then, pressing 's' or 'r' on the IW menu does nothing. Even when the item is unlocked. You will still have the item. You need to press the 'reforge' button. There is no salvage button.

So the function to reforge without unlocking is not needed. You can even safely leave the item unlocked on the IW menu.


Decon, I am not trying to diss you here. Not trying to offend you, or blame you for not using a script. I am just giving a useful tip to protect players who use IW services.

And, if another script would have prevented accidental salvage as well, I would have mentioned that script as well. But at this moment, it's just HV Utils that prevents that completely. No other script that I know of does that.

maybe it doesn't do that, I may be mistaken. But still, you would have to got to the salvage menu and there would be no reason to do so. Because reforge can be done from the IW menu, and salvage from the 'equipment shop' menu.

I did kind of understand it works like that. But you can't do that for an item that is IW10.
I'll stick to slot the equip in an equipment set. The reasons why I dislike loathe HV Utils and refuse to use it are numerous and perfectly legit.
