Hath Exchange Transaction (Sold 2,000 Hath @ 5,980 C)

Looks like another one of my forever standing exchange bids got fulfilled (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I only noticed it because I happened to check my Credit Log today. Someone mentioned it on The Official Hentaiverse Chat, but does anyone know who did the buying and more importantly why? I didn't notice a major update that would have made hath more valuable, am I missing something here? That transaction reminds me of the kGP dump couple years ago that fulfilled my old kGP bid. That time it was because some accounts got hacked, hopefully that wasn't the case this time.

I'll take the deal though, it had been years since hath was actually selling for 6k credits regularly, and my bid had been updated for years as well.

With letter "k", huh? Looking at the H@H toplist, there is Koaen previously known as jenga201. If it was him I wouldn't be that surprised, as he has done it before, though the last time wasn't quite as much hath. Maybe he wanted to load off some accumulated wealth or just do it for fun or just because he can, who knows.

Or then it was someone else or a group of people playing around with the exchange market.

It seems like a rare occasion to get the old bids fulfilled, could be once in two or three years or could be never. You also have to remember to refresh the bids once in a while, as they expire if you don't. There is also the possibility that a HV update makes hath much more useful and that the prices go higher for a long time, then you might accidentally sell "low" with an old bid. I also have some Item Shop Bot bids that have been there for ages and I haven't had them fulfilled in years. Someone else probably has a better bid on the materials I'm looking for, these days you can't even see how high the bids are.

Please guys, it's not useful to speculate on what happened on the hath market. I spoke to the dude involved. It was not intentional. Very unfortunate, lots of credits were lost from his account. And no, it will not be rolled back by admin.

If anything, learn this lesson:
- don't fuck with the hath exchange, you won't get a refund
- use a strong password, and change it every now and then

The GP exchange couple years ago didn't get rolled back either, I'm sure Tenboro has his reasons for that. Well, that is enough info for me, I was just curious if there was some update or major meta change that caused the hath market to go crazy.

Good tips with the account security, I would also add that you shouldn't trust your account details to any third party addons, though that should go without saying.

Time for me to set some ludicrous hath limits, I guess. I wanted to buy DD6+7 that previous day when hath (legitimately) became 3000 credits, but I'm not actually rich enough to afford that, so I ended up buying no hath. So far I don't regret that decision, but neither have I been able to buy anything else to solidify it.

Probably he could, but he won't. Of the few cases I have heard of, transactions were never rolled back. I guess it's your own responsibility to take care of password security.

Luckily, we've never had to deal with this. Admin has pretty decent security.

If someone was able to guess it, it wasn't a good enough password, and therefore it's your fault.

Yes, I know you could argue that it's theoretically possible for someone to guess a password of any given complexity, but in that absurdly unlikely case, should it ever happen, you'd just be unlucky and no special measures would be taken to compensate you.

This also applies to people stupid enough to install dodgy browser extensions leading to their session getting hijacked, or falling for phishing sites, or using the same username/password combo on other sites then having their password cracked and put on a combo list. These are all user errors.

Constant backups are kept, so at best, we'd only lose a couple hours of data. Depending on what was compromised, it's possible that only the affected parts would be reverted.

Partial rollbacks have happened before where people were able to exploit a bug - I think it was with figurines giving an erroneous amount of rewards or something, but I don't remember fully. In that case, it wasn't a database-wide rollback, but just the individual rows affected.

Of course, in your theoretical scenario, I guess it depends on what you mean by 'hacked all of ehentai'. That's a huge range of possibilities, and all of them astronomically unlikely (under the reasonable assumption Tenboro has taken proper security measures).

Most of the hacking done in games is phishing attempts. We had a few attempts before where they would pm you. Just be wary of following links and always double check the url when logging in.
