Imperils on all monsters is basic strategy for imp mages.
However, in latter rounds (>~650)I might cast only 2 imp instead of 3 if my hp is low and/or T3 spell is in CT.
This is because monsters hit very hard.
I am doing my best and do pay attention to little things to optimize GF run, but I don't think I am doing something special.

Keep as more Hp as possible for next round.(=avoid casting cure when all monsters alive)
Using full-cure or health potions after SoL triggered instead of cure and bring the buff to the next round.
Using potions before use gems.(Especially spirit gems)
Using Mystic Gem for T3 spells.

I didn't come up so much, but these are what I doing differ to arenas.

My dark set till 800 rounds uses almost the same number of spirit+last elixirs as he does. Then the last 200 rounds are terrible.
Holy dark are just innately low casting speed. Also non-imp doesn't kill as many monsters as imp mages do in the first few turns.

Well i actually level them up to 615 and some to 633 when i have the needed surplus of elemental crystals. But they allready start to bring HGMats when they are above 500. So all the 52 PL 549 monster have allready the chance to bring me HGMats, i just test atm if leveling a lot of your monster up on more or less of the same time is actually a good strategy. And also because it is something that is easy for me to do atm. And i also like to compare how my monsterlab does evolve over time. And i really like the changes in the last month. Feels like i archive something, even when it is just slow and steady. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)
