This is what I did today: comparison shows red is improvement, green is reduction. New staff is yellow dots.



This will make my 3+2 build instantly go to 1.0 prof factor with my pfor gloves and shoes. But more importantly, I also have a 4+1 build, with peerless cotton robe of demon-fiend. This will outperform my 3+2 build in the end. I payed a bit extra for the proficieny, that's what I did.

I don't know anything about mage but looks like you dropped 51.05-50.82+4.71-4.27=0.67 magic damage in favor of 25.51-24.36=1.15 edb, I guess thats way more though after scaling up edb to your level. Is this new staff better on damage, or was this mainly for proficiency improvement?

It was for proficiency, with minimal loss of MDB (almost no loss), plus good increase of EDB, plus better counter resist. PAB's suck, but all other stats are just excellent. But I payed so much to be able to play 4+1 non-imperil.

Increase a player's counter-resist and grants a specific element mitigation reduction with spells of that type.

Both effects depend on the player's proficiency factor, capped between 0 and 1:

prof_factor = (effective_proficiency - monsterlevel) / monsterlevel

Counter-resist bonus = prof_factor * 50%
Mitigation reduction = (prof_factor ^ 1.5) * 50

I took a good look at proficiency factor again, that everyone keeps talking about. Indeed it looks crucially important, so I guess that staff was worth it.

Hey I wonder if warriors can use proficiency factor to increase your elemental strike damage, or does it only apply to spells?

Why would you congratulate at all for this? (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I mean compared with all those 2250 monster creating an army of PL 549 monster is not really an archivement.

Turns rather than time is better for comparison.

Around 7000 turns if elec/wind mages, full forged, very good charged phases+DD5.
One elec mage who has PSWD and very good clothes says he needs 6600 turns or so.

I would like to focus on time because I have average 200~300 less clear turn on bonus day but the clear time has no significant difference compared to non-bonus day.
Imo what actually time-taking in GF is judgement of using cure/imperil/item, instead of hovering on imperiled monster.

I was sparked today too, but for another reason. I was going to use a gem by pressing G, but I missed the target (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) and hit F (Focus). That alone was enough for me to be severely attacked by 8 or 9 monsters in an IW. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Shrined artifacts, but didn't get a single ED, so still not enough ED to trade for artifacts to shrine for ED to trade for artifacts to...
