Partying this with a few forge 50 on my cookie cutter and my frozen stick.

i've been doing some runs to compare the performance of longsword and estoc, normalising the results to compensate for the difference in forging and quality. as one may expect, estoc performs better than longsword when paired with shade armour (by about 10%), but with power armour the results are too close to be conclusive considering the inaccuracy introduced by the calculation, so i plan to fully forge my estoc to produce serviceable data

And i did reach the last goal i actually had in the game. A full PFest without SoL, Haste or SV.

same here, i'll keep using my longsword no matter what simply because of how satisfying it is to watch all the monsters' health drain away while i'm hitting only the ones i can reach, but i will go as far as i can to debunk the "estoc is only choice for 2H" and "2H only works with light armour" myths

This is what I did today: comparison shows red is improvement, green is reduction. New staff is yellow dots.



This will make my 3+2 build instantly go to 1.0 prof factor with my pfor gloves and shoes. But more importantly, I also have a 4+1 build, with peerless cotton robe of demon-fiend. This will outperform my 3+2 build in the end. I payed a bit extra for the proficieny, that's what I did.

I don't know anything about mage but looks like you dropped 51.05-50.82+4.71-4.27=0.67 magic damage in favor of 25.51-24.36=1.15 edb, I guess thats way more though after scaling up edb to your level. Is this new staff better on damage, or was this mainly for proficiency improvement?

It was for proficiency, with minimal loss of MDB (almost no loss), plus good increase of EDB, plus better counter resist. PAB's suck, but all other stats are just excellent. But I payed so much to be able to play 4+1 non-imperil.

Increase a player's counter-resist and grants a specific element mitigation reduction with spells of that type.

Both effects depend on the player's proficiency factor, capped between 0 and 1:

prof_factor = (effective_proficiency - monsterlevel) / monsterlevel

Counter-resist bonus = prof_factor * 50%
Mitigation reduction = (prof_factor ^ 1.5) * 50

I took a good look at proficiency factor again, that everyone keeps talking about. Indeed it looks crucially important, so I guess that staff was worth it.

Hey I wonder if warriors can use proficiency factor to increase your elemental strike damage, or does it only apply to spells?
