Me and vincento were too conservative in estimating the forge experience. I just reached forge level 50 in a day with most of the rapier, most of 1 power armor, and thanks to the help of 1 more equipment I borrowed. I'm still lacking bindings to finish.
If you can afford (or be helped) to max out 3 things at the same time you can reach forge 50 easily. 2 power armors and no rapier might be enough because you can upgrade all the side stats like mitigations for cheap.
If you want to reach forge 50 cheaper, you could upgrade a decent weapon as much as you can and use it, then when you get a better weapon you salvage it and upgrade that one. If you repeat this for 3 weapons you might reach forge 50. However you waste several million credits this way from salvaging.
I'm also amazed by how much item world experience you get from max forging, it's roughly enough for an IW10. I bought dark descent and it works great together.
Especially if soulfused, if you'll max forge you can do the first 4~6 potencies of your equipment instantly and keep using amnesia shards for almost unlimited times. Then do conventional IW for the last few levels. This way you don't waste your time and drop potential playing the first 4~6 levels at low difficulty to unlock one or two potencies at a time. The cost of such IW is only the cost of the amnesia shards, nearly 0 credits/pxp.
