When I played 1h, I used Imperil in SG Arenas and IW.

This slows down GREATLY the Rapier.
The only places where you gain speed are the SG arenas and FSM.
In the other parts (more than 50% of the total time), you're wasting several turns/round (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Imperil doesn't slow down the clear speed of Rapier even GF or normal Arenas.

It's fast a little.

But it needs to pay attention, so not worth it.

It's good enough that rapier with imperil is still a tiny bit faster than shortsword with imperil. Rapier without imperil is probably more notably better than shortsword without imperil.

Shortsword with imperil compared to rapier without imperil might be an interesting test.

Lv.250 and my block chance is now at 46%.

My next goal is to forge my magnificent force shield's block chance to lv.25 and also get to level 300 too.

As it can be noticed, even with a difference of more than 500 ADB, the Penetrated Armor makes a good difference in the final result.

Someday I'll do the same test with a Peerless Axe of Slaughter (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (if I have one, of course (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) ).

i already tested that one, rapier vs. axe on SGs. results weren't that bad, iirc

If monster die even before getting the 2nd stack of PA, imperil does not change the number of hits necessary to kill that. It just adds a turn (where it could also get resisted).

this is not a thing to underestimate. pair it with melees' lower counter-resist and cast time... it may end up that if not slowering, sure as sure it doesn't boost as much as we think.

It was claimed that imperil vs no imperil with rapier was already sufficiently tested but as I haven't seen those tests myself, it would be good to measure both turns and time, since casting imperil will probably lower turns/second.

7 minutes out of 180 minutes might be just barely out of the realm of uncertainty. Either way a 4% increase in final damage is quite large all things considered in this game. That's like using a But5+Fat4 rapier versus using a But0+Fat0 rapier, or a Peerless rapier compared to a top Magnificent.

I just got my first Legendary Drop from a Random Encounter.

Sadly it doesn't appear to be as good as my current Exquisite sword, but it is still fun to reach a new tier in my drops.

I understand the results as follows:

- If times were the same, it would mean that Penetrated Armor was able to offset a difference of 541 ADB.

- But the time taken was 7 minutes shorter. This means that the Penetrated Armor can compensate for an even greater difference, that is, for a Rapier and Shortsword to perform exactly the same, the Rapier may have less ADB than my current one. How much I do not know to say, maybe 700 to 1000 ADB less than a Shortsword, who knows. Maybe a Rapier with Base ADB < 50 (but with Butcher 5) already can have a performance equivalent to a Peerless Shortsword.
