Dark? Dude, you'd be trading down. Holy is far superior. You have one of the strongest equip sets of all players in HV - and you consider changing to dark?

I know a holy mage is the strongest style in the current HV...

It's not a 'changing': just one of various styles I can achieve.

Even though a dark mage is inferior to holy, that's better than 2h.
