I always thought Magic Drain was attractive, but wouldn't a warrior waste mana casting wimpy Forbidden spells first, then waste even more mana to cast Drain? Does the Magic Drain give you more back?

it's appealing only with the proper setup - usually holy mage, and even with a bit of mana conservation.
and still, useful only for micromanagement, so people tend to skip.

You could see it as proficiency training.

there is a trick: don't do grindfest at your level. Arena's are way better, if you want even more HV per day, do some IW on your gear.

speaking of which, have you tried the damage log i've added to monsterbation and is it sufficient for the research you've been meaning to do?

I'd like to, really. But I really don't have time to do anything since I got my new job. It's been like 5 months I haven't done anything regarding the wiki or any kind of research, and it sucks.

My target is reaching 1.0 prof_factor and 0.975 now.

How much base divine prof you have right now?

For holy mages who maximized a base proficiency, HOH (pmax prof) + Cotton Robe (pmax prof) is slightly better than HOH + 2 prof cottons even though it can't reach 1.0 prof.

It will take soooooooooo long time for me to get 600 base prof, but it is a end-game setup anyway.

Staff: 5.98 / 6.45 (p-0.47)
Gloves: 7.08 / 7.5 (p-0.42)
Shoes: 6.19 / 6.7 (p-0.51)

Total 19.25 / 20.65 (p-1.4)


It seems fairly bad: if it were p-0.7, my prof_factor would be 1.0 already.

But other stats such as cast speed, evade, and pabs are very nice and I can reach 1.0 prof soon (within a couple of months), so I won't change these prof cottons until I get Peerless Charged Cotton Gloves/Shoes of the Heaven-sent.

Mmm I was wondering if it was easier to farm prof the earlier the better, I asked Roadshoe a couple weeks ago and he told me he had 541 prof being level 593 back then, I know both you and him are heavy players, but seeing that diminishing return the higher the level made me wonder about early farming for prof
Right now I'm 39.5 points above my level and the data I gathered shows that right now I gain ~2.1 prof per level, I know this has diminishing returns and expect that the prof I gain per level to be less than 1 around level 485, I was wondering how much prof I could gather playing mage up to level 500 without any dawns
...or maybe I'll stop playing before then and I'm overthinking too much (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif)
I gathered some data about my prof progress in case anyone is interested, though I'm not sure how objective my data is, I'm using the small lines in the exp bar to know when to note

profs have separate XP counters independent from player level, so the diminishing returns you see are due to prof levels being higher than player level and thus taking more XP per level, and the XP gap from one level to another gets bigger as levels go up. there isn't much you can do against it, but it helps to start building prof as early as possible

You seem to be a grindgod, so even without training, that it takes you forever is scary...

In your case, to get 550 base proficiency when reaching level 500 without dawn exp, you have to train Assimilator to 12.
