QUOTE(BlueWaterSplash @ May 23 2018, 08:18) I always thought Magic Drain was attractive, but wouldn't a warrior waste mana casting wimpy Forbidden spells first, then waste even more mana to cast Drain? Does the Magic Drain give you more back?
it's appealing only with the proper setup - usually holy mage, and even with a bit of mana conservation. and still, useful only for micromanagement, so people tend to skip. QUOTE(Nicosai @ May 23 2018, 13:52) You could see it as proficiency training.

What's the last thing you've not accomplished? Reaching 10 Precursor Artifacts. Still at 6, and (probably) didn't even start from 0, and it has been a while. I feel like it used to be faster to reach 10, did I exhaust my luck, or is the system going against me? (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Grindfests take fucking forever tho. Unless you have a trick. I never got past 200 dungeon levels out of the 1000. In the meantime I guess it's for grinding.

there is a trick: don't do grindfest at your level. Arena's are way better, if you want even more HV per day, do some IW on your gear.

QUOTE(sickentide @ May 23 2018, 08:32) speaking of which, have you tried the damage log i've added to monsterbation and is it sufficient for the research you've been meaning to do?
I'd like to, really. But I really don't have time to do anything since I got my new job. It's been like 5 months I haven't done anything regarding the wiki or any kind of research, and it sucks. So I can't give you any feedback, sorry. But yes such a feature is very appreciated for the likes of me who want to demonstrate a few things. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I saw it yeah. But why a robe!? For elemental, Peerless Charged Cotton Shoes would be better, and probably for Dark and Holy as well.

Wait till you have a full leg build with at least 5 forges each and you're at level 350+. Then you think of grindfest.

So that's why fest and iw are out of my league... (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/mellow.gif)

For holy mages who maximized a base proficiency, HOH (pmax prof) + Cotton Robe (pmax prof) is slightly better than HOH + 2 prof cottons even though it can't reach 1.0 prof. It will take soooooooooo long time for me to get 600 base prof, but it is a end-game setup anyway. QUOTE(yami_zetsu @ May 24 2018, 05:39) How much base divine prof you have right now?
Staff: 5.98 / 6.45 (p-0.47) Gloves: 7.08 / 7.5 (p-0.42) Shoes: 6.19 / 6.7 (p-0.51) Total 19.25 / 20.65 (p-1.4) It seems fairly bad: if it were p-0.7, my prof_factor would be 1.0 already. But other stats such as cast speed, evade, and pabs are very nice and I can reach 1.0 prof soon (within a couple of months), so I won't change these prof cottons until I get Peerless Charged Cotton Gloves/Shoes of the Heaven-sent. I was asking for base prof, how much? Given that you have 0.975 and those gears I assume it's around 550, don't know how to calculate it precisely . . . I think I calculated it correctly, is it 543? This post has been edited by yami_zetsu: May 24 2018, 05:47

Mmm I was wondering if it was easier to farm prof the earlier the better, I asked Roadshoe a couple weeks ago and he told me he had 541 prof being level 593 back then, I know both you and him are heavy players, but seeing that diminishing return the higher the level made me wonder about early farming for prof Right now I'm 39.5 points above my level and the data I gathered shows that right now I gain ~2.1 prof per level, I know this has diminishing returns and expect that the prof I gain per level to be less than 1 around level 485, I was wondering how much prof I could gather playing mage up to level 500 without any dawns ...or maybe I'll stop playing before then and I'm overthinking too much (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/heh.gif) I gathered some data about my prof progress in case anyone is interested, though I'm not sure how objective my data is, I'm using the small lines in the exp bar to know when to note

profs have separate XP counters independent from player level, so the diminishing returns you see are due to prof levels being higher than player level and thus taking more XP per level, and the XP gap from one level to another gets bigger as levels go up. there isn't much you can do against it, but it helps to start building prof as early as possible

This is scary. Do you have no assimilator/proficiency bonus training at all ? Is it maximised ? You seem to be a grindgod, so even without training, that it takes you forever is scary... So we have to expect an increase by a factor of 100 between 500 and 600, just like between 400 and 500 ? Or something even worse... Well, i guess it definitively puts the assimilator training under a new light. This post has been edited by Enatcon: May 24 2018, 07:24

CODE exp(500) = 9999999999999 exp(456) = 1705256167041
exp(550) = 80845799002563 exp(495) = 8153191488907
(exp(550)-exp(495)) / (exp(500)-exp(456)) = 8.763695296390242
/4 = 2.1909238240975606
-1 = 1.1909238240975606
/0.1 = 11.909238240975606
And there is no 'proficiency farming' in the current HV. Just level up: then you'll get some prof exp. + correction: my current base divine proficiency is 546.396. QUOTE(Enatcon @ May 24 2018, 14:20) This is scary. Do you have no assimilator/proficiency bonus training at all ? Is it maximised ?
