go to your router's settings and open that port. you'd better check your user manual though, since the process slightly differs for every manufacturer

Tried it man nothing works (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) why i don't understand. I did added some custom ports to (virtual server and port triggering sections in my router) but when I check it says the port is not open damn it (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

Trying changing the port around?

Totally. That one cow guy was good with small pixel art things. What was his name, Cow Bastard, Lazy Cow, Cow Pickle or something. He designed the cookie awards. I haven't seen him here in ages.

It's the same with the weird banner dimensions. It's much bigger lengthwise but doesn't give you much height. Fitting an image into the banner template is like trying to cram a bitch into a suitcase.

No. Network cable connected directly to the modem.

How much RAM do you have?

4 GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 401 Mhz (6-6-6-15). For basic use I think that is enough.

What is running on the PC when you're playing HV?

Usually nothing more than the antivirus and a program to monitor internet traffic. At most one player to listen to music. It never interfered with my gameplay.

Are you playing it straight after turning the PC on or after quite some time after lots of things have been done?

I would say in both cases. It never made any difference.

I swear that Windows and the hardware are particularly stingy in the running conditions when it comes to being performant.

As I said before, practically nothing has changed in recent weeks regarding software and hardware. Incidentally, the computer is even cleaner and more organized than before. When I play the CPU temperature does not exceed 35°C (before cleaning up to 50°C). And CPU and memory usage are no more than 50% (listening to music).

I really believe that the problem is the instability of my internet, because it is falling more than normal. They are quick interruptions of less than 1 minute, but they irritate. Even on video sites (like YouTube), where videos always downloaded smoothly, now it's randomly varying in speed. To play HV, the same thing happens. For example, it looks good for about 30 seconds and then comes a lag of 2 seconds.

Your RAM is like mine: 4GB enough to run a computer with W7, but not enough so that W7 does't mess with it (and the hard drive) constantly. Only these three softwares is OK. You may have not turned off some of the nasty services, like the search indexer ("Windows Search"). Get rid of all those services, it's very important. Get rid of all the software updaters aswell (acrobat, java and all), those things start straight off when you turn on the computer.

Ah, yes. Fair enough. Assign an ip for your pc into your lan. Something like 192.168.0.2 (these are local ips, so it's fine to write them). Again, check your manual for how to proceed.
But in case you have other pcs, these the chance you'have to fix those ones as well to avoid conflicts. Or at least to exclude the above mentioned one.

Could be. Or to visual effects, like those 'particle' from windows media player (not that wmp is so bad for audio, but that feature is).
Just in case, I suggest lightweight players like foobar, media player classic etc etc. They also have the side advantage to be open source (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

There is a trick. You can set the range of IPs that the router can use. Often it is pre set to 001-255. Then adjust this to 001-254. Then you use 255 as fixed IP.

guess it would work the same if you assigned 001 and 002 as fixed and 003-255 as range, right? or is there a tendency for applications and devices to take the lowest one available?

frankly speaking, i used it a while ago and it didn't make me happy. MPC-HC did, so i'm using that (and not only because it comes bundled with K-lite codec pack)

though - even if i'm not in the mood to change it - i can agree that now those differences may not be there anymore and a few days ago i noted on a website the instructions to download a video via VLC, which makes me think that VLC may have a better web protocol support than MPC.

foobar is good, extra good if you're willing to spend some time (several days to weeks) to tweak it

for standard use, not so many days are required, btw.

Time to get ecchiverse running again aswell.
