Inflicting more damage isn't the breaking point between my success in a place or not. I'm running IWTBTH, and the bottleneck for me is getting hit with massive spikes of damage from mana/spirit attacks. Not just a single attack, but several of them in a row. Can't cure, full cure, potion, and spark of life fast enough.
Yeah, i dont think that is the best idea and at your level i didnt play on IWTBTH, back then even the highest difficulty FYI. I never used SoL, not even today. But i play 1H since a long time. And i know what keeps an 1H Player alive is, damage, block chance, parry, mitigations, in that order. The faster you kill them all, the less attacks you have to taken and the less chances they even have to get around your block and parry.

I switched from power to plate, which lets me upgrade my armor as well as pack in more base phys mitigation (can't afford the millions for actuators for power). Suddenly a lot of those attacks don't spark me anymore. I can recover from them and heal through them.
I guess you need your time to beat all the arenas you want to bet. But i assure you, with a lower difficulty, your clearing speed would be much faster, you would need much less mana, tbh i dont even have full cure in my skill setup, never needed it. And actuators dont cost millions. You can even get one for 60k with a thread in WTB. Together with all the other bindings you had to buy, that is really not the world. And if you just buy them one buy one, who hell would blame you for that? No one, sure as sure.

Overall, it feels like reducing interference and improving mitigations will let me push into pfudor. As long as it isn't too expensive to recover from random spikes/bursts, hoverplay lets me clear in a timely manner.
You will stop care about interference quite quickly. I cant even remember when i even one thought about it.

Damage only matters if it significantly decreases the number of hits needed to clear an entire round. 1h style accomplishes that through counter attacks, which don't seem to get elemental strikes
No, counter attacks dont do most of the damage with 1H. For me it is around 10~20%. That is all. Most damage is dealt by normal attacks. And no, counter dont do elemental strikes and also they dont crit. I care mostly about the stun effect of them. Otherwhise they dont do that much for me, only sometimes when in DwD the SG a split up that much, i have to cover with imperil all monsters, counter sometimes manage to kill the normal monsters in the same time in need for the SG.

(and my rapier is already ethereal).
What just means you dont get hollowforged at end of IW but an random elemental strike. What would still make a huge impact on your damage output.

Surviving with impunity and letting the opponents take a lot of swings speeds up my runs more than making my clicks hurt more.
If that would be true, the Peerl Savage Power Gauntlets of Slaughter that are coming up in supers auction this week, wouldnt got for much. But it will, sure as sure.

Capacitor and juggernaut on my armor pieces will help that a lot more than elemental strike will.
I disagree, especially for cap, cap i a nice to have but dont really need to for 1H.
But do as you like, i just play 1H for a few years, so what do i know? (IMG:[
