OK, tested. Took a crappy axe to normalfest and found a daimon and a sprite with the same level:

In theory a daimon shall have Slashing mitigation -25% and a sprite 0% but Pannya get more damage (~7% more damage):

attacks on Pannya: (/ (+ 1979 (* 0.75 3656) 2042) 3) = 2254
attacks on La Bellezza Della Rosa: (/ (+ 2423 1834 (* 0.75 2717)) 3) = 2098
(- 1 (/ 2098 2254)) =~ 7%

7% is within the 10% of the normal variation of the damage roll. I do not know the actual variation of the damage roll, 10% is just an upper limit (as otherwise breached defense would be meaningless).

Conclusion (TL;DR):
I suspect that it is not scan that do not show the negative mitigation, instead any negative mitigation is treated as zero mitigation for all purposes.

PS: @damemo, is Pannya an analogy to the Polocrois series?
