Melee will certainly be buffed somewhat and with the turns per second capped it has less risks of getting out of control.

It is not like any Asia melee player would getting out of control (besides their mind (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ).

I used to play a mage but... It is so much easier to play as a melee (compared to the last time I tried to mage I think last version or this version and almost died doing so)

Edit: I'll probably try maging again when I'm like level 350-400 It seems like maging is greatly improved after those levels based on the wiki's information of when you can get certain ability ranks.

First, you must increase your magic proficiencies. When you did it, and when you've bought or just picked up nice magical set, maging will be either easier or the same as meleeing. Those who're whining about easy playin in alternative style are newbies or trolls, IMHO.

In another related question: Why do people overbid for equip like this: Magnificent Phase Gloves of Heimdall, when it is not even ExqMax? Does forging higher PXP stuff yield better returns than equal valued stats of lower PXP items?

You are higher level than me. If you noticed my edit...

Granted, it is also true that I do need a good magical set. My melee gear right now is actually better than my magical gear...

One thing I hate about the new system is that I have to specialize more instead of freely switching between melee and magic.

Am I missing something here? Aside from the really low PMI, this looks good.
There are only a few decent 0.77 Mag Phase stuffs lying around for sale.
We should also take into consideration how much the buyer needed that equipment.
Who knows? Maybe this is the last missing piece the buyer needed to complete his set.

There's someone recording a list of data on forging. You can always work on that one.
