Imagine if he just sold all the bitcoins he got so far right now. He'd be effectively multiplying his money by... a lot.
Of course, I'm not entirely sure how it works, or if it's really that easy, but that would really be something.
Edit: Lol, whoops. Of course I'd post right after Tenboro says "Nope, can't do that."

QUOTE(Tenboro @ Nov 22 2013, 04:59) Would be nice, but it's really not that simple. We're not really invested in bitcoins, it's just a means to transfer donation monies. Seeing as we use that for server upkeep, we can't really keep it in magical internet money for too long.
True and i have seen some post before about you saying stuff about when you did do it and why it not work out. Like if someone did it by a check they put the reason being Porn and what not. Let alone lots of the silly little laws about things like that when it comes to means of pay and adult things. The US laws are really messed up about that. Over here someone can take a debit card, credit card, pay pal, check, ect you name it and buy things like weapons that can kill people and nobody would say a thing, yet if someone was to use one of them to buy a adult thing that's around porn, they act like that is the worst thing ever. I know from the fact i have did it before (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Buy a shotgun for home Defence with my Debit card, sure no problem at all. Buy a sex toy with my Debit card and they act like it's a crime and will ask you things. Ok so to say it pays to keep the site up more of less. QUOTE(wolfgirl of autumn92 @ Nov 22 2013, 15:43) It be nice, there is lots of people who would donate if they did not have to do it by Sh-bitcoins. Well that can come down to point of view really.
Problem is most payment processors really don't like what e-hentai does, so they usually close the account when they discover.

Don't worry, guys, I've got you covered. I'm releasing a fork of Bitcoin which supports a central governing body with a democratically appointed board of directors that can expand and contract the money supply as needed to maintain price stability. Of course, you still have the risk that they'll devalue your assets by printing too much dough, but it'll probably be more stable than it is now.

Exactly. It's a very strange, new value transfer mechanism...maybe no more strange in some ways than regular money...but it's many years away from general acceptance. For example, I think HV donations have some kind of built-in insurance for Tenboro, to protect our shopkeeper from sudden exchange rate fluctuations? That's ok here in this community...but I would prefer not to offer that same insurance to shopkeepers of other services, which essentially puts all the risk of (likely) exchange rate fluctuations on me. QUOTE(gc00018 @ Nov 22 2013, 11:57) Use Bitcoin as a transfer method is safe, but invest it is another thing. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Now,Chinese are crazy about it... wondering when it will collapse. (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) It's squarely in the high risk, high reward section of investing. Along with mining or internet start-ups. By comparison, roulette and blackjack should be considered safe. So bitcoin speculation has a place in the portfolio of any diversified investor who can afford to lose their entire investment. Lots of people with that kind of $$.

If you're feeling regretful just think what i must feel. Past 1.5 months or so i bought and donated about 2.5 coins for about 400 total now those would get me 2 catgirl's worth. Only got 4 stars for them tho (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). To clarify i don't regret donating...only that i have been cheated by fate. I paid 3 coins to get a Gold Star support the site earlier this year. Had I held onto them, I'd be waiting for my Catgirl status to activate now. Oh well. I could actually get Tri Star now with my leftover coins, but I'm being greedy and holding out for more.

I have around 4.555 bitcoin (when it was only $500), and I have no idea it went up that much (almost 8x) (IMG:[ invalid] style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) This post has been edited by Sky Arc: Nov 23 2013, 09:56

If I were Tenb, half of the coins I keep 'em, and cash out only when needed.

Saw that and while disgusting it does open up questions about other nonstandard uses virtual currencies can engender other than sex and drugs. Watching the market and waiting for the next cratering before picking up my donation monies. Hopefully that way I don't get shanked while Tenboro verifies the donation. They're too volatile to even try and speculate how to handle them. The next day they may be worth half (or even less) their current value. Too much of a gamble, IMO, so I'll never meddle with BTC. I'd rather stick to exchange rates of RL currencies. GBP, EUR, USD and CHF are plenty to play around with, without resorting to an electronic pseudo-letter of credit. On the plus side, I'm told that RL money can be spent pretty much everywhere in the real world...
