Stellaris
At the risk of sounding cliche, it's the Dark Souls of the RTS genre. So many resources to manage, gotta' learn to multitask quick, and the game is massive. So big, it feels overwhelming but the prospect of exploring, colonizing, and developing your technology gives it that "one more hour and before you know it's 9 AM the next day" feel. You know what I'm talking about, this is the kinda' game you lose yourself in.
I've played Stellaris on & off over the years, i think it's still a beta game.
It's also simplistic, unbalanced and they keep changing core mechanics.
The "multitasking" is micromanaging cos sectors don't work for shit, things get super fucking annoying when you start building orbital habitats and you need to manually keep building and migrating.
I played every difficulty and even at hardest with genocidal killbots playing vs everyone non-robotic i still won easily, even against the endgame fleets.
It's a shit game imo, it makes me want to play it less the more i play.
