moving on...
Is there a reason shop bot items have a minimum price/bid (aside from being greater that/equal to the sell price) rather than fully letting the market decide their value?
In my opinion having a minimum price to buy things is important simply to avoid the possibility that those items could be adquired at a lesser cost. Imagine getting crystals at 1c because everybody decides that's good price and it's a matter of waiting to get your crystals (it was changed to 10c and that's its price now because people want to buy them the cheapest possible and they're replenished automatically).
It's true that for items that aren't replenished automatically in item store, minimum prices could be seen as unnecessary, but they are necessary to assure game balance (people can ask always a minimum price for selling them and they could never be bought for less than the established mínimum to avoid getting overpowered for one's level). It would be absurd in RPG terms that HG metals costed less than LG metals, though that could be reasonable in bare economic terms if people only wanted LG and HG was considered trash.
Going to the extreme, you avoid the risk of an "All 1c" in case the demand is not big enough, or if someone who has large quantities of an item wants to mess with the market by covering all demand in one sweep no matter the price. Of course I'm exaggerating here. People wouldn't sell so cheap, wouldn't they?
However, they could. I think it's just a mesure to protect game balance and against this kind of scenario
PS. Sorry about the ranting. Another possibility is that Snowflake decides this kind of things on a whim. Noone can mesure her boundless wisdom in the creation of the world after all (IMG:[
