I thought I found a bug just now because it said all of my spells cost 1 MP. But turns I just had channeling.
Wait... CHANNELLED SPELLS ARE NO LONGER COMPLETELY FREE!? THIS IS A BLOODY OUTRAGE, HV IS RUINED FOREVER!!!

Nope. Better Protection does not go into the Protection Augment Ability Slot.

All of the good shit that came along with this patch put aside, it seems to me that HV in "widescreen" doesn't make much sense. I can easily imagine everything I see in this new HV fitting into the old layout everyone were used to up till now. Worse, with this new layout I have a hard time playing HV and wathing a video simultaneously on the same 1366 x 768 laptop screen. With the old layout I had no problems playing HV and watching a video on the same screen.

Update: Tried a 40 round Arena on IWBTH...no problem for my old setup.
Ran out of mana even with Pots after c. 20 rounds. Buffs are WAY too short in longevity, and Cure-all is the only way to go now since Cure doesn't restore shit.
I guess El dictator wanted to prove to us that yes, he really can outdo himself and up the ante on a game breaking update.

I like the idea of the new mage system but it ends up being suuuuper weak compared to melee now.
The cooldown and upgrades for spells are cool, but without some other benefit its a straight out nerf to he style that was already weaker.
To warrant such long cooldowns with high resource costs and much weaker (and single target) standard attacks, spells need to do significantly more damage.
Or, with a lesser damage boost, you could set the cooldowns lower so that they are more usable. T1 - no cd, T2 - 2 turns, T3 - 3 turns.

Good Grief, talk about change central.
It would have been nice to know before I walked into an hourly naked and spelless; needless to say I got my butt kicked.
Overall, I'm still trying to sort this all out, but it should be interesting to see what happens.

It's cool having a spike shield on your protection spell though. Use wind, the proc makes mobs miss a little and you can use electric infusions on your melee weapons.
