Darn it, after this update:
  • Monsters are harder to hit
  • My HP is lower and MP's much lower
  • I lost the last of my elemental resists
  • None of my spells last even half as long
  • I don't even have Silence any more for schoolgirls
And last but not least,
  • The game has never been easier
Maybe it's just that I'm in the apparently miniscule demographic of players who ever set the difficulty lower than max, but I'm finding that DW/Heavy is a lot more survivable than before. At full health (or close to it) I don't even need Weaken to slog through the 50 55 rounds of Schoolgirls. Last week it took an epiphany regarding potion selection for me to beat The Twilight on Nightmare, yesterday I breezed through the new End of Days with so many left that I think I'll move up to Hell. Once Tenboro fixes the graphical bugs (specifically the one where everything moves around whenever I gain an ongoing effect or powerup) and the script writers give me back my custom hotkeys and round counter I'll be perfectly happy with the new version.

edit: Since I have never tried playing as a mage, obviously I can't speak about how things have changed for them.

Mace/Heavy is not 95% unplayable above hard; I sure as hell can't afford a good estoc and I had to dump into pack rat training and have zero income as well to upgrade to slaughter power...

fucking joy...

Im back to fucking normal arenas where it now takes 4+ hits to kill anything, 2+ even with spirit stance; and I even have to cast Cure sometimes, instead of just keeping Regen up.

i know its been beaten to death already but i see little numbers for comparison

Stats from playing only on HELL difficulty. I'd play more rounds before posting but it takes 100+ turns to kill a legendary even with imperil.

"drops increased 50%"?

Total Item Drops: 111 from 545 monsters (20.37% total drop chance)
Items: 104 (93.69% of drops, 19.08% drop chance)
Equipment: 7 (6.31% of drops, 1.28% drop chance)
Artifacts: 0 (0.00% of drops, 0.00% drop chance)


since hv stat doenst include monster food yet i added the rest of the stats and found:

93.69% - 66.33% = 33.66% FOOD (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

prior to patch. closer to 40% total item drop chance (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/anime_cry.gif)

I play as mage sooo:

Average damage dealt per spell: 3783.50 was ~15000
Average damage dealt per spell crit: 5717.54 was ~26000
Average spell damage dealt: 4444.48 (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)


Not worried about HP/MP/items reductions since Damage seems to have scaled down a bit (no longer raped by random 7500 crit damage per monster) and potions allow full MP regen.

also PLEASE add a Reset Mastery Points button. I don't wanna wait 40 lvls to get the slot I should have chosen.

OK, did another experiment. Level Hell which was/is stress-free before and after 0.76 (after day at work last thing I need is stress).

It took a lot more of pummeling, switching between spells and wasteful maging (e.g. killing Mecha with Holy because Elec/Dark are cooling down). Wasted 4 hours with low level arenas Fresh Meat to Endgame. It was my usual run after work before 0.76, last 5-6 weeks were even more fucked up, and often it was not possible to play at all. Anyway...

Now before 0.76 it took me around 2 maybe 2.5h to deal with it. Before 0.76 I could rack up from that run ~50k (not counting sell-on value of equipment in Garbage Dump). Today after 4h and a bit my reward is equal to... wait for it...

14.768 credits (excluding massive payout from 15 miserable pieces of equipment I will receive) (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)

At this pace there are no frigging prospect of progress.

Sorry, but numbers simply doesn't add up. Mobs will be dead by Wednesday. Monster food must drop in much larger quantities to keep HV universe alive (just like Crystals). After all what will happen when all mobs die of starvation. 0.76 pretty much killed economy. People don't spend credits. I don't blame them one iota. It's like living through Great Depression of 1929 and 1930s - everything went to hell over night.

One thing straight, I like HV. It WAS a fun idea, and a fun way to spend couple hours with a game which didn't required Sextuple-7990 and quadrillion of CPU cores to run. My fears for HV is now with such massive taxation of the HV economy (enforced lack of credits is form of taxation) and massively expanded requirements on Abilities and monsters HV will simply die. Within current constraints reaching lvl 600 and a bit is not real before end of the internet. Even biblical Methuselah with age of 969 would struggle with that. It is intended behavior. Otherwise it would need the logic to remove it from the ability assignments of every equipment set. Though it will act as if it's not there when it comes to slotting new abilities.

Previously, there was already a bonus when you were using only one armor type. But yeah, it seems that mixing armor types is definitely not recommended. Not that there are any advantages to mixing armor types in the first place.

I don't think it's mentioned in the patch notes that it can't be reset
only the wikipedia provide that info, which I'd assume it
to be too late for many other people : (

Some calculations:
i have 74 monsters and before 0.76 they brings me ~1-2 rare item + 30-50 lg mats = 30-50k per day.

after 0.76 (for all 3 days) - 1 binding of protection + ~50 lg mats = 20k.
- 74*500c for food = -37k per day
- 74 * 27k(price still raises) for morale = -1998k per 2 week = -142k per day.
total = ~20k-37k-142k = ~ -159k per day. (IMG:[invalid] style_emoticons/default/cry.gif)
